I find it hilarious that all you have to do is mention the Leafs and a Leaf poster will comment within a few minutes. They're like vultures circling around just waiting for carrion to appear.

...I rarely post, but everyone has to do their part once in a while.

Also, does this imply you're carrion?

Only Scooby's comments seem to qualify, it would seem.

Testing: I think Jonathon Bernier is overrated, you guys remember when Reimer was doing good earlier in the year? This is the same, book it.
- pker2theend

I actually thought it was a mistake to trade for Bernier--not that we gave up much (I thought the price was more than fair), but I just didn't think we needed him. I liked Reimer/Scrivens a lot.

In hindsight, I'm glad we did. Reimer has been very shaky this year. Not sure he's ever going to be able to mentally snatch a cup, even if he has the physical tools.

I haven't seen Bernier for a whole season yet, but I can say one thing: he has been awesome this year. He's facing 40-50 shots a night, and steals games. I feel much better with him in between the pipes.

I live in the USA, and I get NHL Center Ice--which means I watch a lot of feeds from the "other" team that is Toronto is playing. The one thing those "other" team announcers always comment on is how fast and dangerous Toronto's forwards are, and how stellar Bernier is playing. So I find it funny when Scooby dumps on Bozak (1st line forward) and Bernier (stellar goalie).

Apparenlty Bozak is the best centre in the league, he's ELITE according to Leafs fans.

JVR Bozak Kessel is the best 1st line in hockey, said Leafs fans.

Bernier is a top 10 goalie, despite his stats not showing this.

Oh and the Leafs have more banners in the rafters.

I'm sure they have an app which detects any mention of the leafs anywhere on the internet.

Kesler... big (frank)ing surprise. I said it at the deadline, the biggest threat about waiting to make the trade is his health. So let me guess....off season surgery?

Many of them are more vulture like than you know, especially if you live in Ontario. You should see how they are coming out of the woodwork to criticize the Canucks now that the team has taken a step back or had some adversity. Hopefully the Canucks get on a run and sneak into the playoffs..

That won't happen, but hopefully with the right decisions made in the off-season it only proves to be an anomaly year.

Take the high draft pick this year and get back into contention next year with some good moves over the summer

Also, Bernier is tied for 5th in the NHL for SV%.

http://espn.go.com/nhl/st.../goaltending/sort/savePct

It's always tough to rate a "top 10" list for goalies because people use different stats to make their case, mainly GAA, SV%, and Wins. I tend to think of SV% as the best stat to use though, since the other two are very team-influenced compared to SV%.

So yeah, I think a case could be made for Bernier being top-10 this year.

- --Lamp--

Bernier is 23rd in GAA. Isn't that convenient you ignore the one true stat that shows how well a goalie is doing at his job, to not let the puck in the (frank)ing net.
