it's been way too long since he played a game to even think about taking a healthy player out and putting him in for during the crucial 15 games left we have.

btw I get why Faulk didn't go down the first time but can they still send him down to play now?

Kevin Allen writing today that the Rangers should have the 3rd best team in the East by the time the playoffs start if MSL has the impact that he should have. He hasn't been watching its more than just MSL having to perform. My god third best team, some of us after the trade thought they'd close the gap on Boston and Pittsburgh. The very thought as of right now is off the radar...

I think Marty is gripping that stick way to tight. He is a very intense guy which is a wonderful asset, but doesn't help him much when he is struggling. Just needs to relax a little, and get the first goal. I thought he looked pretty good with Kreider last night, had some good chances, same for Kreider.

I agree with Kreider's game last night and I also agree that he needs the one goal, and I'm going to hold out hope that the Rangers are like that solid baseball team that is slumping but when they bust out they do so in a big way.

Don't know what's going on in the locker room, but AV should bring a little piss and vinegar there and hopefully that transmits to the ice. No way we can go deep in the playoffs with this (frank)ing mentality.

It is strange, they were one of the worst team in the 1st 1/4, then one of the best up until the break. Now not so good. I hope what you say is what happens, they have shown they can play really good hockey. They just don't have the time or their spot in the standings to figure out how to get back to playing that well. If they were in a comfortable playoff spot, I think we would all be a lot more calmer about the situation. Nature of the beast though, they put themselves here.

I agree it doesn't look promising right now but this team has played well in the fairly recent past but I am sensing some give up on this board. A little faith fellas....

You're right, and if we do make the playoffs we're one and out. This team gotta start thinking in a different mindset. Cuz if this team is happy with just making the playoffs, the cup is never gonna come to us.

The mindset should always be to go deep in the playoffs and to always grind the opponent down no matter what style you play, if it ain't, the cup is never coming to NY. I realize our position is a little tricky when we played like balls in the beginning of the year but still... It just seems like our team don't have that mindset that winning teams have

Wasn't that the exact mindset under Torts? And they seemed to max out cause they didn't have enough scoring depth

It kinda feels like this team plays really good when they're on a roll, and when things don't go well they don't have that ability to bust out of it any way how. The responsibility to bust out is on the players, but if they don't the coaching staff need to be able to kickstart their team. Not sure if we got that though...

Was just about to mention Torts...

Well yes, that was the case. And altough Torts knew how to get his players going, that kinda faded out last year, and he obviously lacked in other areas as well.

I really hope AV put some fire under the wood and the guys come out flying tonight.

Really? Its that cut and dry? I remember when the Flyers eliminated them in a shoot-out, the Ollie "Chok-i-nen" game. The Flyers struggling down the stretch combined with the Rangers getting hot right at the end (I think they made up a seven point deficit with like 10 games left) were supposed to be one and done and wound up making it to the finals.

The point is, get there, then you never know what can happen.

The plan should be, we buyout Richards, re-sign Callahan and trade AV for Torts straight up....again except this time it requires a league conference call

The smart decision is to buy Richards out it seems. But will that make MSL mad to the point where he was this year in Tampa?

I don't think Richards being here was the biggest factor and if he does get all sore about that he can retire or the Ranger don't pick him up for an extension and another $5 million plus gets freed up. If the Rangers don't make the playoffs, I don't see how you keep Richards, it will be obvious trading Callahan will mark a transition and I would expect changes to be made that they can make under the cap

One thing I want to happen next year is Richards gets bought out. I just don't think he brings anything special to the Rangers that warrants the salary he is making. He doesn't do much on the point on the PP, still don't know why he is always out there. He seems to be getting slower. We have enough veteran leadership on this team between Girardi, Nash, MSL. I just think the money could be used more wisely.

I have been off-line all days boys, and while I certaintly realize that the consternation is justified, I look at the Rangers like the weather this year. If you don't like them now, way a few hours or days, and it will turn.

They are one of those wildcard teams that has played extremely well at times, and terrible at others. If they continue to play like this, then they could be on the outside looking in. If they start to look like the pre-olympics Rangers, well, then they are dangerous. They almost remind me of an underachieving college basketball team that has the ability to get hot at tournament time. With that said, you need to make the damn tournament.

I don't think we should lose heart yet. They can turn this thing around, but the clock is ticking.

the Jets are one of the worst team's in the league defensively
