Laughton would have to be Richards 3.0. Schenn is Richards 2.0. Horvant is Richards 4.0 and Jared McCann is Richards 5.0.

I think it had more to do with how they felt about the players. They thought Laughton was going to be better than Maata. Maata looks great, but I wouldn't start writing Laughton's career obituary. They have some decent d prospects now. If they didn't have Laughton, they wouldn't have any forward prospects who are slam dunks to be in the NHL.
