Nash wouldn't accept? |

I really like it.
Don't get me wrong, I believe we have good depth. The issue is that our depth constantly gets placed in our top6 because we lack a number of true top6ers. You know, like, the ones that put up points. And this was the case way before injuries.
We need a playmaker and a sniper added to our top 6 (without losing Kesler) if we want to harbor any illusion of making a playoff run. - AlexF
I would like to see something like this for next year
Jensen Sedin ( Kesler trade)
Daniel Horvat ( Edler trade)
Burrows Mathias Hansen
Sestito Santorelli Kassian
Richardson
Trade Higgins Dalphe and Hamhuis
Keep Bieksa Tanev COrrado Garrison Stanton and pick up a stable UFA Dman like Hainsey for experience and a bit of toughness. |

Jensen as a top liner for a full season and Horvat as a 2C rookie are both absolute best case scenarios. In fact Horvat is projected to top out at his peak as a 2C, same with Jensen as a 2RW. I doubt either realize that potential as soon as next year.
I do believe and agree that a Kesler and Edler trade could net those returns though. |

Just once in my life time I'd love the team to draft a franchise player like this.

I think you try it. Jensen and Hank have had chemistry ,yes I know he is a prospect. They move the puck well and I think with the addition of a top line player it would eventually be a decent line. If it fails move Jensen to the second line.
I think you will see Horvat in the top 6 next year. it would be hard for Owner FA to sell a declining roster to his fan base and the fans would be patient watching the development of a player that is suppose to be the future. Agian if he fails you can switch out him and Santorelli.
If I see another year of A declining Daniel Burrows and Hank as a first line I will throw up. |

I'm up for trying anything but don't want to ruin their develop either. I'm also not convinced either would thrive in the system Torts is currently running. In fact, I believe Torts' system has a large hand in the record-setting lack of goals this season. |

Edler plus our pick for one of top 3 overall? I think the oilers would accept clearly they can't get a winning team from the draft. - pker2theend
In what I think (and frankly hope) is an opinion held among all Oilers fans, I accept. |

I like to win!
Paying homage to my buddy Mike for his number retirement this week. Got me to thinking, Pavel Bure is the closest thing to this we've ever had. Sadly, they proceeded to run him outta town, just like Luongo, Schneider, Nedved & Neely...to a lesser extent.

Nedved? He was nothing more than a selfish player, who became reasonably good and then held out for money. He ran himself out of town and the best thing he did was get the Canucks through Janney a bunch of St Louis players who helped the 94 cup run. As much as Bure was great and the best player to ever play for the team, he also ran himself out of town. He didn't want to be in Vancouver. I loved him while he was here, but I find this Bure rehabilitation disengenuous. He may now look back on his days here with nostalgia, but he wanted out badly in the day. And Luongo, three weeks ago he was being mocked. Another player I liked and the best goalie to ever play for the team, but I always got the sense he didn't really want to be here. Although Gillis screwed up his handling of him, the fact is there was only a goalie issue because he was being challenged and eventually lost his job to Schneider. That's competition and really what sport is about. |

Yup. Damn straight they take that. The Canucks pick is at 10 right now, and will be at about 7 or 6 by the draft. (frank)ing rights the Oil drop 2 or 3 spots, and get a guy who can actually help them now, and still pick in the top 5-7. - leonkennedy
Today we could be sitting in 24 th spot if all goes right. It is not out of the question that the Flames could pass us either. They are 9 points behind with games in hand.

Unless Canucks were targeting someone specific and there was a huge drop off after that ,it would be dumb for the Canucks to make that trade.I think Edler might be able to fetch us a prospect who is ready now and a first . |

Bobby Lu got out muscled and out hustled by his understudy last night. I think in the long run we won't regret having Lack for the next 8 years. |

Lack is good, but he's got too many moving parts to his game. He needs to make himself big, be less active in the crease and let the puck come to him. We'll be fine with him going forward. |

Yes. He also needs to play less often for the time being. Coaching and experience should help both issues but for now he's not a 60-70 game goalie. I think around 50-55 would be perfect for him next season. |

I'm still pissed off from yesterdays suggestion of bringing Naslund back for some managerial position.
Oh, and Gillis' f*cking lame excuses for this abortion of a season. |
