That would be true . - VANTEL
The ONLY proven starter we've had here in the past decade was Bobby Lu. It's one thing to shine as a backup, a completely different story to be the guy. The difference in pressure alone in incredible, let alone the physical drain from having to go out there and play every 2nd or 3rd night for an entire season. |

I'm still pissed off from yesterdays suggestion of bringing Naslund back for some managerial position.
Oh, and Gillis' f*cking lame excuses for this abortion of a season. - Marwood
It's the same every year, injuries and more injuries are his excuses, now it's under performing, both of which has some merit to it. But he NEVER takes responsibility for any of his misgivings. |

He's actually not "very young" he's only one year and ten months younger than Corey Schneider....ok he's young-ISH - LeftCoaster
Not going to knock Lu but he had his chance. He choked against Chi for two years , choked in the away games in Boston and game 7 , let in 13 goals from behind the goal line in the 2011 playoffs . Lost out twice to his understudy and doesn't want to be here. Time to let someone else try. |

I think of Ottawa last season and Detroit this year. We don't hear their GM's pissing & moaning about injuries and how hard their job is. FFS!! |

We don't have much choice now do we.
All i'm saying is that for decades this team needed a franchise goalie, and once we finally got one we couldn't chase him out of town fast enough. |

Gillis has tried ,sleep doctors ,nutrition doctors, slump busters and everything else. Now he is turning to Naslund ,Booth and the hand of Jezus to bring home Stanley. |

Yes, he probably should have scored some goals during the finals. In their 3 wins he gave up what a goal or two ? |

If he didn't let in two from the blue line that I could have stopped in game 6 ,and put the team down early in the game then maybe they wouldn't have had to score too many. |

I don't think he's a choker. I also think he stole a series in 2011 that he gets very little credit for. |

Again I will state he let in 13 goals from behind the goal line in that playoff run. At times he was brilliant but he could not finish. He is not the only one to blame either. Sedins and yes Kesler faded in the finals also. When Rome and Hamhuis were taken out of the playoffs it took out stability and toughness.
This core group is not a winning core group. Moving Lu out is the beginning of what needs to be done here. Booner said it the other day look at how many games the Canucks win when Kesler is out.Daniel wil be lucky if he ever scores twenty again with the way he is playing. Changes are. Needed ,let's get the ball rolling.
Lu was not the reason we lost he was ONE of the reasons we lost. |

That's all fine and dandy but by my count we've lost at least 4 games since the Olympic break that we could have won with better goaltending. Going to a youth movement is one thing, replacing high quality players with unproven youth just for the sake of getting younger is another.
Losing is contagious and can create a terrible mindset. Be careful what you wish for. |

So big deal , we win four more games and get our asses kicked in the playoffs, rinse and repeat. This team is bottom 15 team. Time to get a couple of high draft picks and change the identity of this team starting right from the very top.
We need youth speed and toughness. |

Lack has not been the issue. Melanson teaches him to stay deep in the net. Notice where a number of the goals are coming? In prime shooting positions. Sestito's horrid back-check, Garrison can't take his guy, Higgins went brain dead (did you see Burrows? stood blocking the pass to ovi so he couldnt get a 1timer....) and the Green shot was double screened from prime shooting position.
All of the goals against lack are horrid defense. All 4 goals were avoidable if the players in front of him actually played well. |

Bobby Lu got out muscled and out hustled by his understudy last night. I think in the long run we won't regret having Lack for the next 8 years. - VANTEL
And as soon as Lack becomes the starter people start mocking him. There is an element of the Canuck fan base that is pathetic and crazy. I remember the days when some fans wanted to throw McLean out in favour of Corey Hirsch. Once McLean was gone people were crying.
Lack is the goalie for now, let's see what he can do. Time. |

I am not knocking Lu. I think he is one funny guy.
To me he was probably about the 7 th best regular season goalie and 12 th best playoff goalie. Very respectable. I think he was getting older and slower , and didn't want to be here. |

Cool, except we might not have the goaltending to get into the playoffs again, let alone win a round. Say what you want about Bobby Lu but he is easily the best goalie in franchise history.
Last time I checked you need to get into the playoffs in order to win the Cup. The Islanders have been rebuilding since the 80's. They've actually only won a playoff series ONE YEAR since 1987. |

There is way too much movement in Lack's game at the moment and it's opening a ton of holes. I'm not bashing the guy but he's an unproven goalie at this point, nothing more, nothing less. If these issues are not corrected through coaching and experience than he won't amount to much. |

Are you suggesting if LU stayed this team would have challenged for the cup? |
