Last night was a good night. Our prospects and young players scored and we are still in the running for a high draft pick. - VANTEL
Keep in mind that pick most likely won't have any immediate impact on the club for at least two to three years. |

I think most would be onboard with that train of thought. |

Is either 1970 expansion team ever going to win a cup? We were good after the 04-05 lockout and made a couple ECF with a President's trophy. Now we suck epic balls. You guys made it to Game 7 of the finals but now seem to be hitting the skids. Something's got to give. |

Like I said our future will be very good. It's the present that sucks for Canucks fans. |

At least we will have a stream of prospects coming though. Besides Jensen, Archibald and Corrado we do not have a lot of NHL ready prospects. We should have quite a few more draft picks in our line-up than we currently do. Its the reason for our decline.
I have optimism because there is an apparent shift towards drafting and developing. |

People are a-hles. It reminds me of some skit I saw years ago when some pro athlete, I don't remember who, walks into a guy's work and starts screaming how much the guy sucks. Eddie should do the same, except he'll probably find the guy in his mom's basement tossing on his stuffed Barney doll. |

Unless Canucks were targeting someone specific and there was a huge drop off after that ,it would be dumb for the Canucks to make that trade.I think Edler might be able to fetch us a prospect who is ready now and a first . - VANTEL
Agreed. Packaging Edler with our 1st to someone like EDM or FLO would only make sense if our pick was #10 and theirs was #2 or #3. If either Sam Bennett or Sam Reinhardt are available then you make the deal IMO. It gives you that future 1C that will eventually replace Henrik. Surrounded by a solid vet winger acquired in the Kesler deal and we may have something. |

Can kesler get us a top 3 pick in this draft and a prospect? If so I say we trade edler and our first to get into top 5 and trade kesler for top 3 pick so were set for a uprising in maximum 3 years. |

Kes won't waive for one of those teams. Edler will have to be persuaded to waive. |

Meh, the Flyers made it in on the last day of the season and went to the finals. The Oilers made the finals in 2006, the Kings squeeked into the 8th seed and won the Cup. Chances aren't great but at least you have a chance. If you don't qualify you have none. - golfingsince
You look at that roster and the lack of depth and really think they are capable of doing anything? REALLY? |

I don't think we should go full throttle on draft picks.
My thoughts:
Step 1: Edler + Van 1st for Reinhardt/Bennett.
If MG can execute Step 1, then: Kesler for 1st line LW + prospect.

Both of those scenarios have very little chance of happening, Kesler waiving for a bad team and Edler waiving at all...from all reports. |

That's why I wouldn't be so fast to get rid of Torts. I think another years and half the NTCs wil be begging for trades. |

I recall seeing some report about Edler's NTC not being a full NTC clause. SOmething like pick 6 teams you are willing to be traded to or something. The report could be BS. The NHL really should put that info out there. It's great for fans to know... |

Friendman was on last night with Rintoul and he thought neither GM nor Coach would be fired during the season unless something drastic happens. Figured they'd ride out the end of the season and take the month to formulate their plan. |
