Maybe MG will refer to St Louis in one of his examples during his interview!
- VanHockeyGuy

Probably Anaheim or San Jose.

Why refer to St Louis, they are the only team we can beat.

Never get to that stage.

Hey i do have a question though. Does that guy (don't really know the name) K3GO or something still post here. He was your equivalent to Spatso, RogerRoper, Every Oilers fan, Garth. Like Gillis was awesome type of stuff

- walshyleafsfan

Not sure. Gillis is gutless, as soon as FA started telling him what to do he should have said "you hired me to do this job, if you're going to interfere then I will quit". I think a yes man is worse than a crappy GM, do we even know if Gillis is crappy or just acting as a front man for a billionaires hobby, probably both, he's Wop Whipped.

One thing for sure, his auto-biography might make for an interesting behind-the-scenes read.

It's FA's toy. A total cleanup is in order, then we can look forward to the next Sh*t Show!

Do they even qualify Jordan Schroeder next year, highsight...but another swing and a miss by Gillis. I know he was rated high, really wish he'd have passed on him like every other GM who picked before him.

Every wealthy owner buys a team as a "toy", it's not like the Canucks are a special case here?

I just don't see Mike Ilich telling Ken Holland what to do, other than "win me a cup"

A lot of people passed on Hunter Shinkaruk as well. IIRC this fanbase was pumped by the Schroeder pick and Shinkaruk as well.

I like Hunter Shinkaruk's chances better. Didn't MG say "We need to get bigger"?

Exactly. Have you guys heard Mike Keenan and Doug McLean's horror stories on Sportsnet's round table? They had to g through the owner for every signing/trade and were often forced to do things that they didn't want to. Is it a coincidence that both franchises have been a mess for years in the past?

In the NFL, look at the Redskins and Cowboys with their owners heavily involved.

I hope these rumours about FA are wrong, but there's a lot of smoke...

Al Davis used to call plays from the press box to his coach.

I said it before, billionaires are control freaks, I've never talked to a billionaire, but spent a week fishing with someone worth $85 mil. they just don't live in the real world.

If the ownership style of the Canucks is similar to that of the Cowboys, Redskins and Raiders. We then know where the future of this team is heading.

I disagree, I know a lot of people who didn't like the pick then or now...you're generalizing.

I'm not sure if there's a lot of smoke, but there are a few voices that have been recorded and rebroadcast multiple times through multiple outlets.

In the end of the day we really have no idea what's going on up there.

Gillis' entire 1st rd pick strategy for some years seemed to be: pick the highly rated guy who's fallen down the draft order into your lap. There's often a reason for their fall from grace.
