Depends on what the managerial job is? If he is Vice President of beer and snack stand no one cares then. If it assistant GM then we have a problem. - VANTEL
This. Ferraro is a terrible analyst. He would be a huge mistake for the Canucks. |

He's a huge mistake for TSN.
Edit: He would be a great fit with the CBC braintrust. |

Any analyst would be a bad choice, they get paid to give opinions, not make decisions. Having him as a consultant wouldn't be terrible, but not as one of the decision makers. Personally, I think Gillis is fine if FA really is making all the calls, why fire the mouthpiece... with how fat and jowly and the bags under his eyes he's getting, he might end up resigning due to heart problems before he ends up fired. |

Where is the assumption coming from that a Ferraro or Naslund type would be given the GM reigns? Every mention, aside from The Province trolling, suggests they'd be a hockey ops, assistant or advisor kind of roles. - 89_hockey
I never assumed or said that they would be given the reigns... I dont think they would. People have mentioned their names and Im asking them that question...
Weird..... I never mentioned names and Naslund hasnt turned TV personalty. I see all kinds of assuming here by you.

I like him as an analyst, he's a firey little fugger! Him and Naslund had similar career numbers, although I'd much rather have Ray's strong personality within the organization (not for GM) than Naslunds.
Still can't believe they retired Naslunds number...WTF Gillis? |

Please no... those were painful years in Denver. Even when we made the playoffs under sacco, the team looked lost at the best of times. Yes the avs were very young as well... Canucks NEEDED a guy like torts to shake things up, and it looked like it was helping at the beggining. Then the scoring stopped for the top line and their record reflects it. I like every personnel on the roster, but the onus has to be put on the players more than the coaching staff and management. Gillis and torts can't score goals from behind the bench.
Guess it was Vancouver's turn to have a brutal slump. Don't call for the coaches head before his first year is even finished.
Otherwise, if you gotta let him go, trade for bertuzzi and put a suit on him |

Higgins needs three points to overtake Hank as our leading scorer, OMG no wonder we're in trouble here - LeftCoaster

Sorry was not attributed directly to just you. Generalization. Will clarify next time.

Better yet, hire Steve Moore, he can work for his 21 million dollar settlement.

Small tid-bit of useless info - in the Canucks 44 yrs of existence they've won 16 playoff series. I was reading about the Islanders winning an incredible 19 playoff series in a row between 1980 & 1984...wow!
They've won 30 series overall, but not one since 1993. Drafting franchise players sure makes a difference. |

What makes people think that a ex player turned TV personality is going to come in as a rookie GM and do a better job than Gillis? Gillis already has 5/6 years experience over them. Im not sold on the "they cant do any worse" tactic at all guys. - boonerbuck
I agree 100 % brother? Pratt was on the radio the other day promoting his friend Frarro so I guess some people heard that and that he was the golden boy with the answer. he has never done any of the things it takes to be a GM. |

The pre-salary cap NHL allowed for those kinds of dynasties (although we never had one ). That sort of streak would never happen in the Bettman era. |

Agreed. I'm not saying that a TV analyst couldn't make a good GM, I'm just saying I don't want my team to be the test pilot study. We need someone with experience and some sort of track record. |

We were already test dummies for Gillis. I think MG has made some decent moves but equally as many bad moves. IMO he is batting .500 |
