i cant speak for too many of them. my interaction with many of them is fairly limited haha. hell, im not even sure how i feel about bylsma. i really do think he has many great qualities, that make him a good coach. i just more and more am of the mindset that he isnt a good coach for THIS team.
im much more sold on shero than i am DB. - stayinthefnnet
Interesting. Was just curious. I think the Pens need one more Cup with Crosby and Malkin to rule it a success. |

as do i. they at least have one, so its not a complete failure. but with just one, its hard for me to view it as anything much more than just breaking even. |

They lead the league in OT losses. You'd think they'd be good at 4v4 and in the shootout with all those skilled players. |

Yea. They have two of the top 5 players in hockey. I think Shero's legacy will be viewed negatively if he was handed those two players and only won one. |

I'm honestly not sold on either.
Not that they're terrible, far from it. But I wouldn't list either as being among the best in their professions on a league wide basis |

true. but i still maintain that the cup is the hardest trophy to win. if this was the NBA, it would be entirely different obviously. i really do think shero has done a decent job putting pieces in place around them. if anything, he just needs to improve on drafting. which he slowly seems to be coming around on. his batting average isnt much worse than average any way you slice it. then his transactions elevate him into that above average realm in my mind. i still think they should have a good 6 year window left, barring catastrophe. |

i think shero isnt going to outduel say holland, but id put him in that top handful. DB, not at all. i think he would be a great coach for a crappy team to make them into a decent team, if that makes sense. but at this point, im struggling to agree with some of his continuous decisions. |

I have this feeling the Pens are going to lose in the playoffs then acquire Kesler at the Draft. I don't know why, but i just have a feeling. |

i mean, i at least know the first portion of that scenario will occur.
id still be fine with it, depending on the price. hell, i wish they had him now. |

THey should have gotten him. He would have been the perfect addition. Don't know how many good years he has left. He's had some pretty serious injuries. |

theres been so many rumors around on what the actual price was. if it was that egregious, then im glad they walked away. he is a notch above what jordan staal was. but older, and with the injury worries. therefore, he should bring back slightly more than what staal did, but not something that blows that out of the universe |

I think Shero is somewhat similar/same level as Holmgren.
Bylsma is a capable coach, but I agree he might be wrong for this particular team. Much like Laviolette, not a bad coach, but has to do things a certain way |

based entirely on the moves being made being taken at face value, i would place shero over holmgren. however, i question the level that holmgren has likely been free to make all of his own decisions. like the bryz deal. there is nothing other for that than atrocious. but how much do you think he can really be considered to be culpable for it? |

Looks like we're getting a 2nd for Mez. I think holmer should get credit for his deadline. Basically a 3rd and Mez for macdonald |

I never said they don't deserve credit. They don't deserve a ton of credit no. Pens have the luxury of losing these games when their injured, we do not.
Golf clap is in order. But save the orange sherbert for another time - Just5
I will guarantee that the Pens did not approach these games with the thought that they have the luxury of losing these games. Or you wouldn't have a player like Malkin showing his frustration at the end of the today's game. Flyers need to make a final push to solidify a playoff spot, the the 4 points against the Pens this weekend are huge. So yes they do deserve a ton of credit for how they played. They took care of business.

Holmgren has some culpability, but that's forgetting he took over a horrible team and had it in the SCF in 3 years, largely through his own dealings.
Shero took over a bad team, but one that had Crosby, Malkin and Fleury in the pipeline |

i dont think holmgren is an awful GM. i just think he is prone to overreach and make some moves for the immediate gratification that actually are bad decisions for the organization. but like i said, i dont know how much pressure he was under or the choice he had to make those decisions.
the carter/richards deals were pure gold. i still wonder how someone can argue otherwise.
