You're welcome....
If you like a capella, I'm going to recommend Pentatonix to you as well. Namely Run To You and Little Drummer Boy. They unfortunately cover "today's" songs so they're rather sell-outie and I don't like the songs to begin with, but Run To You is their own work and it's 100% beautiful. |

Where you explained why you'd rather have Giroux, you used nothing more than opinion.
It's your opinion that Giroux is "dominant in all three zones" when, in fact he isn't. it's your opinion that Crosby shies away from physical play, when it's not really the case at all.
You've offered no statistical argument, no visual argument and nothing more than your opinion. - Jsaquella
I have not offered a statistical argument? Did you skip over where I said Giroux has led the league in scoring since December 11 and he's now among the top 5 in scoring? The Crosby vs. Giroux statistics are closer than you think. I'll most definitely concede the regular season scoring numbers, but not by much. Giroux took another path to being elite. You have to throw away past numbers and look at their numbers right now. That's what this debate is about. Who would you rather have now? If you're going to base it on stats Crosby barely gets the edge because of his fast start and Giroux's slow one. However like I said, since December 11 Giroux's numbers are better and we are talking about right now, correct? You can't put a number on intangibles. Giroux's two way game is astronomically better than Crosby's. Giroux is dominant on the penalty kill. DOMINANT. Crosby can't spell penalty kill. When it comes to the powerplay, the numbers are close, but maybe Sid has a slight edge. It's so close though. They run the PP two different ways. G is more patient and likes to wait for good opportunities to get Hartnell the one-timer, or to Simmonds to pull it to the front and fight for rebounds. If those options aren't there, then he will usually give it to Timonen and take it from there. He also has a rocket one timer and an insanely accurate wrister through traffic. Crosby likes to make a lot of low percentage passes through the box and across the ice. However that really works for him because of his vision, passing skills and anticipation. I'd give the PP to Sid, because he's the only one that can pass like that and he also possesses a deadly one timer. G and Sid are both top 3 powerplay aces though. Giroux loves the physical play and we've all seen who's the more physical player. And hell yes Crosby shies away from physical contact. Chara had him running like a scared dog in that series last year. Zero points is what Crosby had. Zero. Let's not debate who's more physical. Crosby also dives, whines to the refs, takes stupid retaliatory penalties when players get under his skin and can be taken off his game and made ineffective when he's in his diva mode. I can't believe you're going to act like you haven't seen this before. Giroux will take the hit to make the play, get dragged down by two guys and still fight for the puck. Crosby isn't like that. Did you not see the games this weekend? He's ineffective when he's in diva mode. We've seen it happen countless times. Giroux is a top 5 defensive forward in my opinion. Crosby isn't a top 50. I have more reasons as to why I think Giroux is a better player, but these are a lot of them. Courage and attitude are the big ones that reflect on deferent aspects of the game. I didn't wanna be up arguing whether I made valid points or not but Jsquella loves creating these types of arguments so at least I made him happy. |

Few things I learned this weekend:
1. If you were building a cup contending team and you had first pick, would you take Crosby? The answer to that question is absolutely not. That being said, you can't say Crosby is the the best player in the NHL. I'd take Giroux over Crosby any day. He does so much more than Crosby. He dominates on faceoffs. He dominates on the PP. He dominates on the PK. He dominates in all three zones. He is the hardest working player in the NHL. He's been the leading scorer in the NHL since December 11. You can make a case for about five guys when it comes to who's the best in the NHL. Tavares, Stamkos, Crosby, Ovechkin and Giroux. To me, I'm taking Giroux all day. I think he's the best player in the NHL.
2. Pittsburgh won't win another cup with Crosby and Malkin. You can't have two 9 million dollar centers and no depth on the wings. The Penguins are built to win in the regular season; not the playoffs. If Pittsburgh has another early exit, they should fire Byslma and trade Malkin. Other than Kunitz and the often injured James Neal, who are their wings? Jokinen, Dupuis, Bennett, Glass, and some other scrubs? Now look at the Flyers ridiculously deep wingers. Voracek, Hartnell, Lecavalier, Simmonds, Read, Downie etc. The Flyers are built like a playoff team, which is why they're doing so well right now. All these games at the moment are playoff type games. The Penguins might win a round and beat up on Montreal, but when they meet a gritty team, they'll get plowed like last year when Boston swept them.
3. The East is wide open. I think the Flyers match up well against any team in the East besides Boston. If they can avoid Boston somehow, the Flyers will have a deep playoff run. - TonyBazz
Sidney Crosby has more points on the PP then Claude Giroux does. Also Crosby and Giroux have the same faceoff percentage at 52.6. Which is not dominating. And Giroux is a decent player on the PK, Couturier and Read dominate on the PK. And Giroux is an average defensive player at best.
What makes Giroux special is his heart and competiveness, combined with a high level skill package.

All I did was disagree with your opinion. You kept chirping back in response, so I responded. It takes two to have an argument.
Also, you had several people that disagreed with your opinions, how'd I get lucky enough to get singled out? |

Yeah, they needlessly lost Metro and Vaananen on waivers during that stretch, too. Cap management and planning are not Homer strengths, for sure. - Tomahawk
I disagree completely. Not liking the choices they make in which players to keep and which to not keep, doesn't point to bad cap management. There is this false belief that things like that just happen without foresight into it. And then they have to make a spot on decision of how to get around it. That is not the case. The Flyers cap management is calculated and deliberate. And they know exactly what they're doing with it.

Giroux is not dominant on the PK. In fact, he's not even in the regular PK rotation anymore. If anyone wants to see dominance on the PK. look at another center on the Flyers. Sean Couturier. Giroux isn't even the best PKer on his team. And is no where near as good as Coturier is on the PK.
And if it wasn't for Crosby's concussion history, I'd trade Giroux for Crosby in a heart beat. With no hesitiation. And that's nothing against Giroux. Who I think is a great player in his own right, and I'm glad to have him. But there's been so many false statements made.
The biggest of which is that Giroux is a top 5 defensive forward in the League. Giroux is average at best defensively. |

So you're saying they had it planned all along to sign two no names off the street for the final couple of games of a tight PO race, and deliberately wanted to lose home ice to the Pens that season?
I believe 99.9% of fans would be outraged if that happened again this season. |

Ha! Looking back at the last 6-8 pages of this bad boy, you have to remind yourself that the Flyers swept a home-and-home over the weekend!
Be happy, folks! Those two wins were EFFING HUGE in the playoff race -- the math, ever so slowly, is really starting to favor this team!
They get a point, or win, on Tuesday...look out! |

Strawman argument. An NHL Season is 82 games long. A loss in October means as much to the final standings as a loss in April does. And if you can link the results directly to having to play those two players, I'm all ears. A GM's job is to put the best team on the ice that he can. |

It was just an incorrect post I wanted to delete. I mean, not as incorrect as saying that Giroux is a top-5 defensive player in the league, just a post I didn't mean to make.
For right now, I'm gonna sit back and hope that our corporate people from Pittsburgh are enjoying their drive down to our office. |

Giroux was also labeled a dominant player on the PK. When he's at best the 3rd best PK forward on the team, and more then likely the 4th best on the team. And he's not even close to the class of player that Couturier is on the PK. |

Indeed. I think Mason has to play tomorrow night. Pretty light work load over the weekend. Emery hasn't started a game in 6 weeks, tough to throw him in there against the Hawks. I would give Emery the game Thursday night against Dallas. |
