In the old playoff format the 7th place team would play that spot in this instance.


Currently they way the teams are placed in the standing the 5th place team would play the 2nd place team.

Looking at the standings it's pretty accurate.


Playoff seeding would have them in the 1st wildcard spot.

semantics - I fully understand there is no more 1 thru 8, that said, if you're playing one of the first or second place teams you'll always be 7th or 8th and have a much more difficult time advancing. At least in my books.
