Tank Nation is for LOSERS and Oilers fans...
As for getting a bunch of top end draft picks, it doesn't always work out. Look at how many years the Leafs spent playing like shiite, and there's still no guarantee they'll make the playoffs. take a look at the Islanders who have had solid draft position the last x years and still haven't broken through in a meaningful way (although I think they are close). The Panthers, Jets, and others come to mind in that same group.
Tank Nation is for people who have no competitive fire, or pride in a team that plays hard representing their culture. The team in Calgary plays hard every night and is respected as an opponent around the league. The Oilers are a perennial soft touch and the butt of jokes.
The Leafs used to be the laughing stock of the league and have just come out of it this year. Last year after the playoff debacle they were the butt of jokes again. This year they have dispelled that notion unless they miss the playoffs or pull another epic collapse. - kaptaan
Maybe before you climbed up on your high horse you should have done all little more research behind the arguement of #Tanknation. I'm not going to go into any great detail about it because it has already been discussed ad nauseam here.
Nobody wants to be the Oilers, Flames, or Leafs. The leafs suck because they always traded away future assets for the here and now, the Oilers suck because they draft without a plan, the Flames suck because they took too long to recognize they were no longer competitive and always pushed for 8th place only to fall short. #Tanknation is the arguement to avoid all of these pitfalls. All we are saying is that it is in the best interest of this organization to obtain the highest draft pick they possibly can.
I personally like the way the things are going lately. The Canucks aren't rolling over and showing teams their bellies (except for maybe Edler); they are giving the opposition everything they've got. It's entertaining, but not enough.
There's no right and wrong between the 2 schools of thought of how the rest of this season should be played out. It's just a difference of opinions; except that the #Tanknation school of thought isn't as righteous about it.

Typical ignorant nucks fan post on the history and state of the leafs. Your post just stinks of blind hate and jealousy.
You should learn your history before you go off on such a nonsense tirade.
And to speak of "the laughing stock of the league"....I'm pretty sure Van takes the cake on more than one occasion...take your pick:
- choking in game 7...rioting
- being owned by the blackhawks for years (the canucks were to the hawks as the senators were to the leafs)
- being owned by LA...and then mocked via social media...
- hiring a complete joke of a coach
- giving away 2 starting goalies for spare parts
Now I know that this post will probably get your blood flowing...and will make you want to respond with some kind of typical "67" joke. But before your fingers hit the keyboard...may I suggest you take a deep breath...sit back...and relax. Because the nucks perennial draft lottery position is just beginning...and you'll need to develop a lot more patience. |

It seems you Leaf fans like to conveniently forget that as bad as we've been this year, and the stuff that's happened, we've:
- Never had Harold Ballard for an owner.
- Never had a child sex abuse scandal in their arena (The Gardens)
- Though we lost 4-0 in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals, that's infinitely better than being UP 4-1 with less than a period to go and then losing 5-4 in OT of a Game 7.
- Have been to the Stanley Cup Finals 3 times since the last time the Leafs won the Cup
- Have made the playoffs for 7 straight seasons (until this year) winning multiple division titles and 2 Presidents Trophies in that span.
- At one point, was actually outdrawing the Maple Leafs on HNIC viewership during the Sedins dual Art Ross seasons (which incidentally coincided with the 2 Presidents Trophies.
- Actually had 2 different players who have won Art Ross/Hart Trophies (Toronto still has none)
- Plays in what is now the strongest Conference and Division in the NHL and has the worst travel schedule of all the teams.
Would you like me to continue? |

Yeah... of all the teams to be "jealous" of... the Leafs? |

Some of Henriks more productive times have been without Daniel. I think when together they are now predictable, stale , and easier to defend than when apart.
I still don't have a problem with the Hank signing and think Burrows Jensen combination is a very good combo. I think top lines should have a passer sniper and junkyard dog on it to go get the puck and mix it it. This is not an accident that this line is being productive, it is a formula.
Daniel use to be a sniper but that was years ago. It really is a shame they come as a package. |

Injuries have caught up to Daniel, of the two twins, he's been the more injured of the two. The Keith elbow probably has done more damage than anything to his sniping ability. I seem to recall he has had wrist and back and foot injuries as well, which would account for a lot of the dropoff in his scoring ability. His shot looks like it's a floater now, rather than a bullet which it used to be. |

I agree about injuries and also aging faster than Hank. The fact is they are still a 2 for 1 deal which sucks. |

Gillis has been looking for a play-making winger to play with Kesler for years.
Maybe leave the Jensen/Henrik/Burrows line together and move Daniel over to play with Kesler.
I hope Jensen is the real deal. He is the perfect spot right now. The team is not making the playoffs and he has been given a spot on the top line. He is making the most of the opportunity but there isn't a whole lot of pressure right now. I'm interested to see what he brings to the table in September when everyone is healthy and he really has to battle for a spot. I hope he rises to the occasion and earns it and doesn't wilt and get sent back to Utica. |

It would be a freakin' disaster. Like I said the other day, it is a desperate PR move and nothing else. Is Bertuzzi going to be the assistant GM? Will Bendan Morrison be in charge of scouting? Lumme the new conditioning coach. Maclean the new goaltending coach? |
