We used to buy this for after the bar gatherings at my friend's apartment. The people who were there didn't care what they were drinking at that point and it was like 6 bucks a case. - mayorofangrytown

I was just reading Kerry Fraser's blog over on TSN. He states "A "ceremonial face-off" is no longer required to complete the game when player aggression such as this takes place just prior to final horn."
I find this odd, as it seems that all NHL game should consist of 60:00 of regulation hockey. In this particular case, it was 59:59. It doesn't seem right if it's an unwritten rule. |

If there was a draft for all current NHLers, where would the first defenseman be selected? Where would the first goalie be selected? |

I'd start with Doughty or Weber and then fill in the top forwards.. tenders could wait til late first round. Guys like the two dmen mentioned are basiclaly worth their weight in gold in the current NHL. |

I say Crosby goes first, because he's hands-down the best player in the league (besides Giroux, as we were informed yesterday). After that, I think it's a Weber/Suter/Keith/Pietrangelo-type, your 6-tool defenseman. Probably 2-3 in a row. Then some of your other big-name forwards/defensemen. Probably Lundqvist/Quick in the 8-12 slot and then a LOOONG wait for the rest. |

Just chiming in now.. I am kind of surprised that Ray is starting tonight. It's a tough task for his first game back after being off quite a while. As others have mentioned, I worry that vs The Hawks, that his lateral movement won't cut it. I hope I am wrong, but he got torched in Chi earlier in he year. The team is going to have to have play lights out. - Hextall271
I don't think he would have looked good against the Stars either. No matter who starts, the team needs to play a hell of a lot better in order to give themselves a chance against either team. |

Interesting. So you would take Weber, Pietrangelo over Stamkos, Getzlaf, Malkin, Toews or Giroux? |

Yes. I'm a firm believer in building a strong defense and letting the offense come. Also, it seems like most teams have one star/superstar forward, while the same can't be said for defensemen or elite goalies. |

I would say Crosby and Stamkos would go 1 and 2 if Stamkos didnt just get back from his horrible injury. #1 Defensemen are necessary. A top line can be pieced together, although an all star doesn't hurt. After Crosby and Stamkos, you throw a rock into a pool of the Toews, Giroux, Getzlaf, Perry, Kessel, etc., type guys. |

It really depends on perspective. Most of the posters are going to build teams to win but if you have an owner over your shoulder those forwards are going to go a lot faster. |

You mean a guy like Snider would rather have a Stamkos than a Pietrangelo? |

This would be a hell of an exercise for NHL14. A complete draft top to bottom with every player eligible.

Are we forgetting about Ovechkin and Malkin? I would say they are still in that "Above the others" Class. |

I would love to get 30 people together to do a draft then have independent evaluators determine 1-30 |

Not ovechkin. I wouldn't even consider him in the top 10. I would pick Backstrom over Ovi |

Yeah. it seems almost beyond the laws of nature to have 45 goals yet be -31.
I still think I would take OV over Backstrom, but I might think about it a little bit.
