I don't know if this is a new idea for a playoff format but how cool would it be if the #1 team can choose any other team w/in conf to play. I guess the top 3 teams can be protected..... so as of standings Today----(I was thinking of a team would pick the team they match-up better against or a team that is injured(detroit) or is playing bad)
#1 Boston Vs I think they would pick NYR
#2 Pitts Vs Columbus
# 3 tampa Vs Toronto
#4 Whoever is left ----Philly vs montreal
this would make for a really cool selection process and would blow the draft day, trading deadline day away with who will play who?
Dumb idea or could this work? - huks99
I dont think it could ever be put into practice but it would be interesting to see the effects

Yeah. Might as well say where we are and hope we can get one of:
Nikolaj Ehlers
Jared Mccan
Julius Honka
Hayden Fleury
Alex Tuch (Who I think the Flyers might draft)
Kasperi Kapanen - FrmRusiaWifGlov
You think Ehlers and Kapanen could be grabbed around 20? That's a hell of a drop for a couple players who have raving reviews, from the limited knowledge I have |

I'm with you. I think it's a cool idea, but can't see a professional sport pick it up.
That's something I'd certainly suggest for a few of my fantasy leagues though |

Ehlers could have been before he went on an insane hot streak. He probably will go right outside of the top ten but who knows, if we are sitting at like 18 or something we could maybe get him. A player very similar to him in Teuvo Teravainen slid in 2012 to 18.
Kapanen I believe could be taken at our spot. He has had injury trouble this year that kept him out of the WJC and has put dent into his projected point totals for this year. Since his injury he hasnt really come back strong and I dont think he has done enough to warrant a high spot. He is someone that I could fall if he does not pick up his gain (and in turn cold be a steal at a lower position). The upside is there but the concerns could seriously turn Gms off

Exactly. Thats what you get Pittsburgh. Another highly coveted defensive prospect. No forward prospects for you.
How upset would you be if they actually drafted another defenseman? - FrmRusiaWifGlov
think im numb to it at this point. im just glad they have their pick. for now. |

Please trade it. Maybe they can trade it for Round 2 of Douglas Murray. What an anchor for any blueline. No literally he will sink your defense.

just glanced at tonight's scores ... guess we're still on track to play NYR in the 1st round, eh?
edit: gotta keep winning ... just get in. If this team keeps playing like they've been they can beat anyone. |

Our problem has always been consistency. We can play with the top teams in the league, but can we do it night in night out? That has not been fully proven in my eyes. If we show good consistency down the stretch we can go deep, probably wouldnt beat the Bruins though... |

It makes me wonder though, perhaps a lot of this inconsistency is due to a lack of confidence? Maybe they just didn't believe themselves capable of beating good teams, and so they often fell back into a more reactive approach.
If true, then beating good teams (like they have been) will not only greatly improve their confidence, but in turn, improve their consistency.
Still not sure they can beat the B's, though. Hopefully they prove me wrong.

I do think confidence plays a part but how I see the Flyers as like a kid with ADHD. They know what they need to do but they lose focus. When they lose focus they start skating around or making stupid mistakes. Some games they seemed fired up while others they seem to lose their drive and game plan. This is why holding the team to playing a strong 60 minute game is essential. I think holding the team to a strict game plan will pay off (something I believe Berube is working on).
It doesnt seem like anyone can beat the B's. 10 straight. |

id take them both back at a reasonable rate. i really want jokinen back as well. but if stepniak doesnt go above much more than what hes making now, id take it for sure. |

definitely an idiotic, needless hit.
Not to blame Ranger, but I'd love to see players get in the habit of putting an arm out to the glass, and protect themselves a bit, "just in case" they're hit.
Too many players keep both hands down, and inevitably the head is the first thing to hit the glass. |

I think I've rewatched Giroux's goal 12 times today. What a snipe - Jsaquella
My favorite part is watching G congratulate all the other players, especially Emery. He didn't milk the moment to be all Me, me, me...he used it to let his teammates know this is what we can (frank)ing do if we want to do it.
Now who's with me?
