NO WAY do I want DBrown anywhere near that duo. He's a black hole where puck possession goes to die. I think King would be better suited to play with them than Brown. Remember when King was playing with Kopi? He was playing a puck possession game and looking to pass (and could actually put a pass on a stick, let alone on the tape). Maybe one of the kids grows up and plays with them, but NOT DUSTIN BROWN. Mr Granite hands should stick to the 3rd line.

Let me see Dwight King 21 career goals. Most goals in a season 12..... Yeah what a dangerous top line....Dustin Brown has been injured all year. When healthy he is a beast physically and has 5, 20+ goal seasons. He has scored 33, 28,24,24,22 I believe.

But yeah hands of granite brown sucks. Dwight 21 career goals King is so much better.

I don't need to put anything in bold to prove my point. I just include my sample size to over 1 season.

i was speaking in terms of salary cap
id rather have brown on my team than gaborik for many reasons

I see what your saying. I would rather trade Williams than Brown plus Mitchell and Greene are free agents and the cap is going up.

People do seem to have short memories. Brown is having the worst year of his career (no idea why he was invited to Sochi) but he will bounce back.

I think Gaborik keeps getting better every game and you can see that him and Kopi are starting to gel. As for Williams, Gaborik doesn't make that pass to Kopi for the goal last night without him.

I do think that Toffoli and Pearson will be ready to play in top 6 roles next year which will give the team a lot more options on wing so in my opinion, Lombardi needs to try to resign Gaborik and go for a top defenceman to play with Doughty.

your response is the exact problem that plenty of Kings fan suffer from: too much man-love for DBrown. Sorry to bust any bubbles, but there is SO MUCH MORE to the game than amount of goals scored. When you watch a game, are the only good/bad plays the ones that result in goals? If you answer yes than you're as good as the people that watch hockey for the fights. Take off your brown colored glasses for just two of his nightly shifts, I don't care which ones, any two, and I'm almost positive that you'll see at the minimum: 3 bad passes, 2 turnovers, a rushed shot into the crest when he could've had numbers with him had he waited, and maybe one check, not even a solid one anymore. If he's been hurt all year, then he should've taken time off early in the year to get over the nagging injury rather than play through it and hinder the team.
BTW, I've been calling for Brown to be a 3rd liner for years now, and it seems DSutter one-up'd me and found him his home on the 4th playing with the likes of Clifford and Nolan, two players who've never seen a pass they liked or a terrible over-handling situation that they passed up. I don't need to convince you or any other Brown defender that rushed to pull up his goal totals throughout the years, the people that watch Kings game know what they see and Brown should not play on the top line, or the second, and will be used on the PP only to create traffic in front.
Good win last night boys, lets keep it rolling! GKG

I respectfully disagree. I have played hockey since I was a kid and understand there is more to the game. 3 of my former teammates now play in the NHL. I think there is a valid point to CORSI and other possession stats but to act like its the most important statistic is silly. The Kings are the #1 team in the NHL in terms of puck possession. Where has that got them?

In regards to Brown being a 3rd liner. Dean Lombardi did not pay him close to 6mil per year in assumption that DB will be a 3rd liner moving forward. I think Dean is smarter than all of us. Fact is Brown is having a poor season. I do defend him to an extent because he delivered the Kings their first cup. When the Kings are rolling DB is a top 6 threat. He needs to be an impact player for this team to do damage, something he has already proven he can do.

Hopefully Quick gets the wins record on Saturday. Class act in his response saying that he should still be at least a season behind Vachon because of the shootouts. As always he also deflected praise to his teammates saying you can't get a record for wins without a great team in front of you. I agree with Patrick O'neal last night on the telecast, 32 will be hanging in the rafters.

My apologies for the condescending tone. I can respect that you know the game. I can also respect the analytics of the game, even if I personally do not put much weight into them. Leaving Corsi and possession percentage aside, my main beef with DB is that, IMO, he doesn't use his linemates as effectively as he could. The turnovers, the bad puck handling, the "area" passes, the shots from low % shooting angles, the shots off the rush from the blue line to the top of the circles, ON THE OUTSIDE, the same predictable moves coming down the wing, etc... I feel Nolan and Clifford play the exact same way, but they're not the C and they're not ever projected to be top 6 anything. And with re to his pay, he got paid because he's been the ultimate team player and has usually led by example. He's kind of been Dean's darling and I can understand that. But Brown's game could and should be so much more. Sure, he's having a down year, but I'm not basing my criticisms on this year alone. His 20 points on the cup run was ASTOUNDING, don't get me wrong, but I think Kopi has a 20 point PO year still to come and Brown may never again. Even more recently, his play after the Oly break was light years better than the rest of his season, he was LOOKING to make plays and make passes as evidenced by the 4 assists in 6 games.
I'm not a raiders fan, so I can't feel great about historical achievements for my franchise. I live in the now and hope to see another cup run (and hopefully cup raisings) followed by plenty more and I will continue to call them how I see them.
re: puck possession and what it's gotten the kings: squat. With Carts and Kopi as the real only finishers (toffoli will be there soon) it has been tough sledding, but I think (and hope) that Gabi really helps putting the biscuit in the basket. Another finisher and we might be rolling along like the Wings, a serious possession team that finishes the majority of the chances that they create with their possession.
Also, re: Quick, a classier act is hard to think of.
