Mantha is overrated because of his size and he scored a hat trick at the WJT. He was considered to be a lazy player that played offence only.

Pp minutes and first line minutes where as other rookies are not getting that prime time. If Dats Nd Z were in the lineup I don't think his numbers would be as high. Also the playing in the east has a lot to do with it. Look at Raymond who has similar numbers would not have gotten them if he played out West.

Corrado isn't close to being top 4 ready yet, you can't just assume he'll end up as a top 4 dman and trade Tanev. I doubt he'll end up being as steady defensively as Tanev.

He doesn't need to be physical to be a very good defensive player, his hockey sense and positioning is top notch. And he's a decent skater and can pass the puck. Edler has a big shot and throws big hits so by your logic he's way better but Tanev has been flat out better.

There's plenty of defensemen without a big shot or big hits that are solid top 4 guys and then there's guys with big shots that are physical but still pylons defensively at times.

Tanev to me is like going to a Saskatchewan rider football game. You go there and scan the crowd for a pretty woman and all you see are hogs and ho's with no teeth.finally you come across an average looking girl in a pretty dress with all her chicklets. You stare at her the whole game because there is little else to see.

Tanev is a good player , he brings nothing special but is reliable.

Garrison couldn't hit a barn with the puck . Edler is a goof , Hamhuis and Bieksa are good 3/4 Dmen.

So anyone that can contribute big minutes and not cough up the puck on this team is going to look very decent.
