I am not denying his all-world talent but Crosby is not a player that Flyers fans could embrace. Malkin has an edgy gritty attitude and is loaded with talent that Philly would embrace. - Daveflyers36
I'd prefer Crosby over Malkin. |

I see what you're saying but I disagree. To me, the way Crosby has aligned himself with Pittsburgh as a city is telling. The fans love him because he loves the team and the city. I think Crosby would do that wherever he went and that's part of the reason he's a superstar. Also, I think Crosby plays with an intensity that Philly fans would LOVE. |

My lord is this refreshing to finally here some truth. James Neal is a dirty, spinless, player. It's not bad enough that the Penguins, as an organization, get away with murder on the ice, but to finally here someone of authority and importance on the matter say something, it means a lot.
If James Neal would actually stand-up and fight and keep the matters on the ice, I'd have much less of a problem with it. But, he's a coward, plain and simple. |

Neal plays like scum. Karma will come around get his it amazes he was only suspended 3x should be at least 5 more probably if the NHL knew what they where doing. |

How do you know when it's getting really bad?
When every penguins fan agrees that he should've been suspended. |

I think Crosby is grittier than he's given credit for being. People don't like the whiney aspect of his play. Frankly speaking, I don't think he's nearly as whiney as he was 4-5 years ago. Although he's had a few incidents (the Voracek glove shove), he is light years better now. I say he is gritty because he's not that big, plays in traffic, draws the top checkers, and still manages to pace the league offensively. I don't have to like him to admit that. |

Malkin drew 2 penalties against St. Louis yesterday that looked an awful lot like that Neal video. Though I watch a lot of various teams, somehow I don't end up watching the Pens a whole lot.
I came away with the impression that he's a soft, but skilled player.. perhaps unfair given the small sample size of viewing. Found it odd to stumble across the Neal story that touches on the same thing a day later.
Regarding the meat of the article, I definitely think the league would be better served by factoring intent equally with injury when serving out justice, but I'm not holding my breath. It drives me absolutely batty to watch someone take a run at a knee or head, then have Shanahan apply the "no harm, no foul" rule. |

Why would Stewart be surprised that a Penguin isn't disciplined?
In 2009 Malkin was allowed to start a fight in the last 5 minutes of a game, a rule that should have resulted in Malkin being suspended the next game.
Instead the NHL makes up a lame excuse so they could gift Crosby (their diving poster boy) a Stanley Cup. Malkin get 3 points and the NHL gets Crosby his Cup.
Pathetic and blatant fixing, just like the closed door draft lottery that got Mario the whiner the #1 pick to land Crosby.
The NHL is clearly a house of cards. |

Penguin fans already realize that Neal needs to straighten up. He's only hurting the team with his stupid penalties. If Cooke can change his ways then anyone can.
I got to laugh at the comments though. Look at the Flyer fans coming on and being all holier than thou when they have Rinaldo on their team who has no skill at all.
I look forward to your blog about Marchand being dirty but I'm sure you won't since it wouldn't get the hits that a blog about the Pens will get as evidence by the trolls on here crying about the league favoring the Penguins and a joke of a conspiracy about rigging the lottery. You can pretend that you could talk about any team but your bias against the Pens is pretty well known when you were a referee. |

Irrevelant? You mean like the garbage about fixing lotteries?
Of course you don't want to hear the truth about your team since Flyer fans are the biggest hypocrites in sports. |

easy... the league has set up the pens for this type of stupid comment. They keep marketing Crosby, he is the face of the league, despite being one of many great talents. The jealousy that creates (and anyone who thinks their frustration isn't based in part in jealousy is fooling themselves) is a natural response. How would Pens fans feel if girouix or chara, or datsuk, etc were the face of the league? They would respond in the same way and look for stupid things (i.e. fixing lotteries, or refs giving the team the benifit over our team) to complain about. Just see it for what it is... the ultimate compliment. Flyers fans aint the biggest hypocrites, but it is interesting to see them complain about players that demonstrate the same qualities they celebarated in their own bullies. |

You mean the closed door lottery that had a representative from every team in the room? Pretty sure 29 other teams (many of whom were also having money problems before the lockout) wouldn't have went along with rigging a lottery to help another team out. |

Amazing that a classless organization such as your own, whose fans consistently chants "Crosby sucks" all the while the organist (and thus tacitly the organization) encourage it..... can claim the Penguins organization gets away with murder.
Ive seen hundreds of cheap shots over the years--most of them coming from Flyers players-- in the rivalry games with Pittsburgh. Neal went well overboard in that awful 2012 playoff serious, but the organization as a whole is not dirty and doesnt get away with murder. It did, after all, attempt to rehabilitate Matt Cooke. In previous posts I have called for the Penguins to do the same with Neal.
But if your organization is made out of glass, you shouldnt throw rocks at other organizations. As long as that organization and its fans continues the "Crosby Sucks" routine, you have no standing to accuse any other organization of wrongdoing. |

LOL, dude.... First off, you're a joke
No one ever said the Flyers are saints, or that the organization and fans are saints either... But you are completely delusional if you think that what Stewart wrote is inaccurate or not reflective of Neal's incidents on the ice and the COMPLETE LACK of equal punishment. Crosby gets away with more than almost anyone in the league with respect to calls from the ref. Your whole team does man. Neal should have been suspended for anywhere from 10-20 games THIS season... Get your head out of your ass. |
