If it comes to it they can use their buyouts on them. I don't think they will, but it's an option. - PLindbergh31
Don't buyouts have to be used by end of this season? I thought they were only good for last season and this one - if you don't use them they go away. |

True. But I'm not talking about points, I'm talking about level of play overall. Here he was a catalyst. This season, he's been just a guy.
And Richards never played like he was just a guy. He would games or small stretches, but he'd always be a presence on some level. - Jsaquella
I haven't watched enough of him on a regular basis to tell you how I feel. Ive seen a few games and he's been rather unnoticeable.
He was never a very good skated but had great anticipation. He was never very big but used every ounce of his strength well. I think he's the type of player who needed every bit of his physical ability to be an elite player. Maybe thats why he's regressed. |

If they do a Carter tribute, it might delay the 365th Broad St Bullies tribute scheduled for this week. - Jsaquella
They can call the Carter tribute "High and Wide" |

Exactly -- he is a max effort player who, because of that, was never going to age well as time takes its toll

"And they're going the other way!"
Again, I kid. Carter was still getting you 30-ish a season.
But man, could that guy trigger opposition breakouts like no other.

To an extent. But Bryz does hold team record shutout streak and was player of the month. And at least Bryz had had a few good seasons before his ridiculous deal
Clarkson had one 30 goal season. It's the only time he had over 20 goals in his career. |

Alot like Iverson for the 76ers. Fizzled early because his body couldn't take it anymore. I think we traded Richards at the right time. |

Me, too -- I always thought he was a risk for horrific aging, because of his skating, but he's not even 30 yet.

I always liked Carter because he was a good two-way player. I'm not surprised his aged better than Richards. He's a much more physically gifted player. I just always loved Richards because he did all the little things and played well in big games.
Richards was a great on ice leader. He just left something to be desired off the ice. |

But Dean Lombardi never makes mistakes.
It would be interesting to see how the Kings would be viewed if they missed the playoffs instead of winning the Cup. - PhillySportsGuy
Lombardi would most likely be a Philly pro scout right now if that had happened.
