Then why have the Islanders not been able to develop a young goalie? All these goalies the Islanders are drafting are bad? The defense is thin and the coaching staff wants all 5 guys deep in the o zone. How is it not on the coaching staff?

Can't answer if its bad drafting or bad development. It's partially the coaching staff yes, but maybe it's just rookies and inexperienced players just as much

He would spend ten million per on kovalchuck. He would spend 5.5 on erhoff. 7 mil on vanek. I think its more an excuse invented by snow birds more than anything. Just like the not taking salary back on the vanek trade rumor.
- Cptmjl

I forget what show it was on... TSN or Sportsnet... but they were the one's that mentioned about a team wanting Vanek... but the Isles wouldn't take back any salary.

I think Wang will spend money... but to the bottom of the cap. And if there is a way to have a higher salary cap without actually having to pay the players. He is all in.

But it was the end of the season.. their cap #'s were fine, and didn't want to take on salary even if a higher pick was on the line.

Who knows for sure... either way, they still look like fools.

My thoughts are bad development and coaching. Have a hard time believing Poulin and Nilsson would be this bad with proven coaching. You want to build through the draft, you need to spend the money on the best possible coaching.

I agree with the 2nd part of your statement.

Coaching is bad... we all agree on that.

Defence is bad... no depth @ the beginning of the year and thought Donovan was going to step right in to take Streit's spot.

Lots of young kids coming up... but it takes time.

I don't mind the goalies... I just think they need more playing time, and a better defence in front of them.

Reinhart will play next year... but still is young.

Too bad he doesn't have AMaC to mentor him and guide him into the NHL...

Why is always coaching?? Sometimes players just suck... In a prefect world Nilsson would be playing every night in the Ahl if this organization had ANY depth in net. Nilsson so much said it himself last night
- Dan Petriw

The isles are like the perfect storm: bad coaching, lack of talent and cheap ownership/inept management. It's all three with this team. Not just one thing.

Two words: Mike Dunham. He's your coach and he clearly isn't good at what he does. Sounds like some other coaches in the isles system.

I think we need one more forward on the top line next year to have a solid group.

---- JT KO
Lee Nielsen Grabner
Nelson Strome Clutterbuck
Martin Cizikas McDonald

Spares: Boulton, Bailey

I don't see Snow trading anyone unless he can get a sucker to take Bailey or he gets a good piece for Grabs in a package. I could live with that forward group.

Exactly! Nilsson and Poulin show promise before the Isles and now the same promise is gone.

For me it was sometime around the end of November.

I was really hoping he would turn it around this year. He showed some signs last year, but he's worse than ever now.

It's gotten bad. I was probably his biggest fan on here. The guy looks like he's high on something out there

We need a new coach bottom line. Guy is clueless just as much as our GM. We need next year to get rid of the trash which is a lot on this team. Problem is we wont. Wang will want the budget as low as possible so we are in a for a real long season. Anyone thinking we are signing a free agent must be high. Anyone thinking that Josh Bailey is going to learn to play hockey is high. Anyone thinking that JAck will not be here next year is high. Same team next year with the same results. Why would it be different

while it certainly may be dunham, i have a hard time be SO sure without seeing what he does...it is possible that nilsson and poulin suck on their own...

None but at the same time the goalie coach should teach them how to stop a puck when a shot is fired

Pretty sure the contract they had to take back was for more then just this season. I think the player had at least another year on the deal if not longer. I'm sure that played into it as well

There's a lot of talent, just not as much as management thinks. Lots of guys were overrated by Snow. He put too much stock into some guys and it's burned him.

I think it was Mitchell who went to Buffalo in the Moulson deal. So if they took him back where would he play? He is a 29 yr old fourth liner. Don't you think they have enough of those guys? Also nobody exactly knows what the situation was and what was the original offer? I know its easy to attack Wang & Snow and I hate them but until its a fact I don't worry about those things

Absolutely. They can both suck. Or it could be a combination. Anything is possible. All I know is whatever the reason is, the results suck.
