Why are they not listening though? Makes no sense. They are constantly out of position. Maybe Nilsson and Poulin are not as great as the Islanders led us on to believe
- kasperrko

It could be that they aren't that good but in Nilsson's case it could be he is not ready and shouldn't be in be nhl.. Last season was a wash cause of his illness.. He only has like 45 career Ahl starts and is now thrust into a role he clearly isn't ready for. That's on snow

I see you took a look at the main page. No thanks on Byfuglien and I'll take my chances with Lee on the 1st line with JT and KO if needed. Let the Isles throw some serious money on a goalie and D and coach instead of trying to make this type of deal.

Maybe Dunham is teaching these goalies the right things? Still very tough not to look at coaching when the Isles cannot seem to develop a young goalie.

BTW, i told you Viz should be have been traded at deadline. Who here wants to bet that he doesnt return next year?

Isles need two NHL dman now.
DeHaan Hamonic and Hickey are only Locks in my opinion. Viz assuming he comes back. that leaves 3 more spots. Strait (is good 5-6dman). Czuczman needs to earn his ice time. (he has looked pretty good on 2nd and 3rd game).

But we need a good Vet or hardhitting 3rd or 4th year dman.

of course hell play next year.

Next time I got to bport ill recorded what Dunham is saying; he is saying the same thing your coaches taught you. Its up to the players to be able to actually do it in a game consistently
- Dan Petriw

Different goalies play different styles.... just because Dunham has played in the NHL doesn't mean he is great coach.

No question. Too many teams have not shown the patience to develop a young goalie. This is not just an Islander issue.

I'm not saying that... But yelling things like "you are too deep. You are going down too early or stay square" are pretty universal

Please, please, please tell me Garth has a twitter account. #askgarth.

We could tweet about "losing trades."

ex: Garth, when the Dutch bought Manhattan Island from the Indians for a load of cloth, beads, hatchets, and other odds and ends then worth 60 Dutch guilders($24), how much LESS would you have taken for it? Or would you have gone straight to giving THEM money and two daughters to take the land off your hands?

It is always coaching because this team continues to hire minor league coaches. Bring in a proven winning coach and then we can look more closely at the players.
- ses111

A simple, defensive system, like the one most every other team plays....well, the ones that win, anyway....then we can tell who is really crap. You can't say a defenseman is crap when he's being asked to cart the puck all over the building when that's not his game.

This was my point. I'm not saying the Isles cannot use more talent. Let a real coach come in with a real system and then you can tell which players can stay and which can go. Guys Like Poulin, Nilsson, and Donovan may or may not be the answer. I'd like someone more qualified that Cappy to help decide that.

Why is always coaching?? Sometimes players just suck... In a prefect world Nilsson would be playing every night in the Ahl if this organization had ANY depth in net. Nilsson so much said it himself last night
- Dan Petriw

Because his style of play has changed since entering this organization, Poulin and he are now playing exactly the same... Coaching is a major reason as to why these guys are regressing and not reaching their true potential.

I forget what show it was on... TSN or Sportsnet... but they were the one's that mentioned about a team wanting Vanek... but the Isles wouldn't take back any salary.

I think Wang will spend money... but to the bottom of the cap. And if there is a way to have a higher salary cap without actually having to pay the players. He is all in.

But it was the end of the season.. their cap #'s were fine, and didn't want to take on salary even if a higher pick was on the line.

Who knows for sure... either way, they still look like fools.

- jimmc7722

Let's just get this right, it's not that the Isles wouldn't take back some of Vanak's salary, it's that they wouldn't take back any salary dumps in the trade and I'm happy they didn't take back some overpaid unneeded player with time left on their contract.

Ask the flyers about developing a goalie
- Dan Petriw

Who cares what the Flyers are doing wrong.... We have talented prospects come through Bridgeport and when they make it to the Island the style of play that got them drafted is no longer bing played.... I never said it was all on Dunham or whoever else has coached them, but since we have two goalies that were coached by the same man, performing the exact same bad habits, there is a pretty good chance the coach is a big factor in their failure.
