Did you give them a speech like "In my day, we walked to school in this kind of weather. No shoes, no gloves and no iPhones!" - PhillySportsGuy
Nah...They usually like to walk, unless it's really cold. For me it sucked, had to sweep snow off the car...took longer than we usually wait for the damned bus |

I am still waiting for a response as well to justify comments in the offseason that Streit was a horrible Dman and we were bonkers to sign him to that kind of money.
..meanwhile the Isles are back out of the playoffs, mismanaged the whole Vanek ordeal and are moving to Brooklyn which may or may not be part of Long Island.. lol.. sounds like a good time to be an Isles fan.. - Hextall271
You make it sound like moving to Brooklyn is a bad thing? As far as the Streit signing every Flyer fan I "spoke" with on here was saying his signing was regretful last season. I still think you guys were bonkers to sign him to that kind of money and term. |

The only answer I can come up with is: Garth Snow - BiggE
The question is was Garth Snow and better Goalie or GM.... tuff question... |

Agreed. I'm surprised the Sabres didn't try to flip moulson sooner...might have got a better price for him - Jsaquella
Yea. I thought they may be able to get a late first for him. Teams are really valuing draft picks these days though.
Tough to criticize them after what they got for Vanek. They are going to have a lot of good, young players. They drafted their dmen first too. If they take a forward this year and next year, they will be ready to come up together. Wouldn't be a bad idea to bring in a veteran this offseason too. Maybe a Callahan or someone like that. |

Cant you say that about every player on the Isles? - PhillySportsGuy
Some of them actually think that with a different coach, they could be competing for first in the division. |

The term is a concern. I don't love the deal overall, but I also don't hate it. It was either sign Streit and get a guy they were comfortable with, wait it out and take a chance that they could get a cheaper, short term deal with a guy like Hainsey or Gilbert, or trade one of the youngsters that they have been grooming for the last few years.

Made ZERO sense. Vanek is probably a better player than Moulson, but the difference is not exactly drastic, especially in terms of production. Plus, Moulson is JT's buddy. Never see a reason to move your franchise player's buddy to make an almost lateral move. - Jsaquella
His relationship has been so over blown since the trade. I'm not defending Snow, I'm not a fan. Never have been but to call the Vanek trade an almost lateral move shows you don't know much about either player. It was an overpayment IMO but I'd take Vanek over Moulson any day of the week. That line was vastly better with Vanek on it. |

I still don't like the signing. He's been better than I thought though. Streit-Grossmann isn't a very good pairing though and the Flyers refuse to break them up. |

I think its a good thing, but I think a name change would have been a good idea. Just get a brand new identity. They needed to get out of Naussau. That place is decrepid. No player in his right mind would want to play 41 games there.
Now with a new arena, and being in the NY area, you might be able to draw more fans.
I really thing the owner should just change the team name, fire Snow, and completely change the identity of the team. Make players want to come play there. |

I liked Streit as did most of us. His play started to deteriorate though and he was asking too much for too long. If he plays well for you guys than I wish him all the best. |

Maybe if they stopped trading away their players and re-signed them. Guys like Streit, Moulson and MacDonald could really help them. They have guys like Hamonic and Strome who have potential. Pulock and this year's pick will both be good.
To me, the Islanders took a huge step back. THey assured themselves another losing season next year, which means they likely gave up a top 10 pick no matter which year they give to Buffalo. |

Heard Buffalo is willing to shop the 1st for NHL ready prospects. Think Laughton, Morin, 2014 1st and 2015 1st will land you Ekblad? |

I was a bit surprised that the market was as dry as it was for sellers. All along we heard that it was a seller's market and yada, yada, yada....guess GM's really figured that they weren't going to pay Nordstrom's Prices for KMart merchandize.
Outside of Miller and St Louis, which were two special situations involving trade demands and/or pending UFAs who were long time respected members of teams or even team captains, I don't think a single guaranteed 1st rounder moved. |

Coaching is one of the main reasons for this teams lack of success. If amac is such a great player you could use that as a barometer. Can't have one without the other there chubby |

Probably. Why do it? If you're willing to trade what amounts to four first rounders, why not get an established NHL stud? |

Every time a player became decent, they let him walk. PA Paranteau and Brad Boyes come to mind. They will argue that KO or Vanek were better...but their issue is that outside of their 1st line, they suck. Now imagine a top-6 of Moulson - Tavares - Okposo and Paranteau - Nielsen - Boyes...now you have some depth and secondary scoring and players that have been together for a while. |

No. This one was.
Flyers are 6-2-1 since adding MacDonald. Maybe playing for a team that makes the playoffs more than once a decade agrees with him. - Jsaquella

I agree with everything in this post besides this part. Moulson is just not that good and Snow should do better for the first line as well as the rest of the team. I'm happy Streit is playing well for you guys but him at 5.5 for 5 yrs is not what I want for this team. AMAC was god awful for us. Blatantly at times. If Snow resigned him half the fanbase would have shat themselves. We have a lot of defensive prospects coming up. DeHaan has been impressive so far. |
