I said maybe.

The fact that you're not taking Pietrangelo 11 out of 10 times makes me concerned for your prefrontal cortex functionality.

It shouldn't even be a maybe. The guy's head-and-shoulders better (figuratively and literally).
- jmatchett383

Offensively yes, but not defensively.

Yes, in essence. If the Flyers want, he basically opts out of his AHL-only deal and signs a deal with the Flyers (technically not a "re-sign" but that's splitting penises...I mean hairs).
- jmatchett383

Well then nice work.

Exactly -- they have to leave one open for Folin, if he does come
- AllInForFlyers

He's also not a real viable prospect, so maybe he didn't have a ton of leverage.

That is incorrect.

You seem to think that McDonaugh is the league's top defensive player, and all of the other players are only better offensively, and I'm not sure why.

Strange that he'd agree to that, but that's good news.
- Tomahawk

Not a big deal. Give the Flyers the extra contract, and if he is good, then he will sign an NHL deal like Vanderhoff did with us this year.

5'10" 160.... Didn't realize he was that small. Jared Ross redux.

In terms of defense, I do think mcdonagh is top 5 in the league. Definitely top 10.

He is. And so are Pietrangelo and Doughty. It's splitting hair when comparing their defensive games, and their all-around games are just so much better than his.

Again, I'm a fan, and he's a top-pair guy no doubt. But, again, he's not in that "elite" stratosphere that those guys are.

He's good, but not that good.

He's not even the best defensive d-man on your team....Girardi.

He is that good and he's a lot better than girardi in every aspect of each of their games.

That, too -- I mean, I hate to say it because everybody deserves a chance, but let's be honest: The track record of college free agents just...it is what it is.

For every Dan DeKeyser, there's three Matt Gilroys. For every Matt Read, there's three Stephane da Costas.

It doesn't mean they don't make it...some of them do. But they really shouldn't be counted on, either.

Again: Totally understand, and agree. I think we're gonna have to ride out next season without a true Kimmo replacement
- AllInForFlyers

Might have to. But I have no doubts that Holmgren is going to try and do something this off season. And for the right player, I'm all for it.

Ha! Exactly. Too bad he tore up his knee...I always got the feel that the Flyers really liked him, wanted him to make it, but his skating was already holding him back before. Doubt that made him any faster.

Too bad.

Give me mcdonagh over karlsson and maybe pietrangelo. And I seriously mean that.
- rangerdanger94

I can understand Karrlsson and I agree with that one. But not over Peitrangelo. No way, not even close.

In the absence of youarewrong, who I'm sure has much more important things to attend to:

B Schenn and a 2nd for Big Buff
Couturier for Yakupov

Commence verbal beating.
