At least I wasn't so bad that I had to play in the AHL.

So yes, technically (as well as factually and geographically) it is on Long Island.

As for the "it's a little weird," when most people think of Long Island, they're usually talking about Nassau and, more so, Suffolk County, as Suffolk is the part that makes the island "long."

Basically, people generally refer to Manhattan, Staten Island, Queens, Brooklyn, and Bronx as "New York City" and refer to Nassau and Suffolk as "Long Island." Right or wrong, technically/factually/geographically, it's how they're commonly referred to non-New Yorkers.

Boroughs and political demographic do not change literal landscape. Weird or not. I was replying to a post where NJ and Pennsylvania were used in an anology. Bad comparison.

I always thought Long Island was in Nevada. I never understood why they were in our division.

Sooo...what's the point? That both franchises have erroneously spent massive amounts of money on players and have since used a CBA loophole get out of them? Why are we arguing who did worse? I mean, if you want to go down that path, we can talk about Pavel Bure, Bobby Holik, Chris Drury, Scoot Gomez, Wade Redden, Theoren Fleury, and pre-lockout Jaromir Jagr compared to Van Biesbrouck, Tony Amonte, Alexei Zhamnov, Keith Primeau (aside from the 2004 playoff run), and Derian Hatcher, but all it shows is that both team foolishly overspent.

I know, I was actually the first one on this thread to say the same thing. And then he has to bring up Wade Redden after I said that, so, it goes on.
