Would you rather Leino gets hurt and we are stuck with him for god knows how long ? - jaumiller
Why is it a choice between Scott on the 1st line or Leino dressed? Play Scott the 3 minutes a night 99% of the teams in the league would play him and bump up Flynn or Delauriers. |

I think what we saw last night was only a one time thing due to ville leaving the game. |

Agreed, he's not the fastest skater but I wouldn't be either if I was that big. I think as long as you have an offensive type d man that can join the rush playing with them while he's out there you could be ok. Just get Scott in front of the net and screen the goalie. That's honestly how I score most of my goals when I play, get to the front and hope it hits me ![](https://hbcf.s3.amazonaws.com/images/emoticons/lol.gif) - jaumiller

It's beyond horrible. It's unprofessional. He's an awful hockey player
I don't personally hate him at all. I hate that he's playing for the Sabres on a nightly basis and getting moved up the lineup for "trying" - sbroads24
Ummmmm how is it unprofessional?
Please explain. |

Do I really need to? John Scott on the 1st line is a joke of epic proportions.
It makes our franchise look more bush league than they do now already. |

I love how this is turning into a John Scott debate. Thanks Kevin. How about the fact that the rest of the team showed no heart all game. How about Ehrhoff being soft in front of his net (yet again)? How about nobody even slightly responding after Deslauriers tried to spark the team? But instead its cause a player on this roster who has been playing solid for the last 10 games or so is playing above where he should normally be due to injuries and the fact that nobody else seemed to give a damn.
The roster is a joke and you get on the guy who is least responsible for the losses in the last month but whatever what a freaking joke |

Time to start an offshoot discussion from this whole Nylander suggestion.
“It’s just one of those things (that) in order to rebuild and to retool, you rebuild and retool with the right people, and it’s never changed from 20 years ago to today,” Nolan said. “You need the right people with the right makeup with the right character with the right drive and ambition. You don’t just show up.” - Ted Nolan
- I'm of the mindset that Tim Murray is on the same page with Nolan. He's said things that line up with Nolan's mind frame. This leads me to believe, that with the first pick, they're NOT going the Grigorenko route. Best pure talent, doesn't possess the work ethic to develop that talent into pure skill. I haven't done much reading on Nylander to be honest so it's speculative that either A) he takes shifts off B) not the greatest team mate or leader in the room C) Floats like Leino D) Thinks he's good enough. If any or all of the above is true, good riddance and I strongly believe Murray feels the same.
- Nolan and Murray, like I said, are on the same page. I believe Nolan was hinting..strongly hinting..that Leino does not have a place on this team. He clearly doesn't give a poop, which is fine because he's terrible anyways. This is no where close to a Beezer #CONFIRRMED, but I'd bet a solid $500 that Leino gets bought out pending a clean bill of health.
- As far as who we draft...we're getting a highly talented character guy. That's Reinhart, Ekblad or Bennett. God willing it's one of the two forwards. - TheSabresTaco
I like all of this, I'd like to agree with all of this. I have one nagging question though.
Why the hell did Murray trade for Stewart then? |

He almost scored, the net minder had to make a great save or he would have 2 more than Ville.
I know that Scott on the first line is horrible but I don't get the hate for this guy, he is not all together useless. - leonwaldo420
I no means am expressing hate. But let's be honest here. All joking aside he's a fourth liner. He has 1 goal in I don't know, over 100 games. The difference between 'hate' and being a black sheep is profound here. |

I agree. Nothing personal against him as a man and I appreciate the intimidation factor but IMO there has to be a better option of toughness that could be added to this team.
He can't skate, pass or shoot and is a liability. |

Honestly, he will get big minutes next year in a contract year, and it might be a blessing that we won't have to overpay someone long term to get to the floor |

THe key issue is labeling the 1st line the 1st line. We dont have one we have at best 3 3rd lines and 1 4th line. Cant we just label them

Right...but john scott playing on the first line is not unprofessional. One wouls argue scott playing on the first line is profesioanl because he is doing exactly what his boss tells him to do.
Did you mean ted nolans decision to play scott there was an unprofesional one?

I have a feeling if there was interest in him, the return would have been similar to what Hemsky got, honestly I'd rather hold onto him of that's the case, the winger market was flooded big time |

I honestly think Stewart was a guy Murray wanted to take a look at, see if he could be properly motivated. I also believe it was a cap move to make the deal happen. If we break down the trade scenario, it was Steve Ott for 2015 first. Fine and dandy. Then it was Halak (pretty good, usually), 3rd rounder and William Carrier for renting Ryan Miller. What a STEAL. To HAVE Miller beyond this year, that 3rd becomes a 1st. Taking on Steve Ott's contract plus most of Miller's required STL to send back some cap besides Halak's. It was no secret Stewart was on the block for his wildly inconsistent play, but essentially if you think of it like I just put it, Stewart was essentially free. Kinda like Ales Kotalik from Calgary. |
