I think if he didnt get hurt hed be a player a lot of us would have liked a good deal. I think he can do well floating between the Bad and Bad lines
- hubie

Stewart, Girgensons, Hodgson, Ennis , Stafford and Foligno are an acceptable top 6 for a team purposely losing.

yea, I wasn't too excited tbh about bringing him in, but once he was here.. realizing he was essentially free. He's a player deserving of a 20 some game tryout. Once the draft rolls around we'd be able to make a decision on him. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case. He's no rookie so there's already a book out on him, but sometimes players change their play, for better or for worse.. cough cough Leino cough.. and Stewart, to me, once he was here was innocent until proven guilty. I along with much of you and the Sabres wanted to get a good look before the draft rolled around. So here we are.

Everybody wants this team to tank but yet are still complaning about John Scott and Mike Weber playing, make up your minds. This team sucks who cares let Scott and Weber play and thank them for helping with the tank.

SPORTSNET 590 THE FAN’s Greg Brady recently reported the following via Twitter on Maple Leafs winger David Clarkson: “Doug MacLean just told us there will be serious discussions from the Leafs as to buying out David Clarkson this summer for cap relief.”

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Leafs currently have over $49 million invested in just 12 players for 2014-15, with several key players to re-sign or replace. Buying out Clarkson will indeed provide the Leafs with some cap relief, but they don’t have any compliance buyouts left. That means it’s a regular buyout which will count at varying amounts to 2025-26 against the Leafs payroll. As per CapGeek.com:

2014-15: $2,291,667
2015-16: $1,541,667
2016-17: $41,667
2017-18: $41,667
2018-19: $2,291,667
2019-20: $3,791,667
2020-21: $1,791,667
2021-22: $1,791,667
2022-23: $1,791,667
2023-24: $1,791,667
2024-25: $1,791,667
2025-26: $1,791,667

It’ll be interesting to see if the Leafs actually go this route. Deep-pocketed MLSE can afford this, especially if the salary cap keeps rising each year. Still, it’s an expensive, lengthy correction of GM Dave Nonis’ biggest contract mistake. As rich as the Leafs are, they cannot afford many more costly free agent blunders like this. Speaking of pricey free agent gaffes…

THE BUFFALO NEWS: John Vogl reports the struggles of Sabres forward Ville Leino makes him a candidate for a compliance buyout this summer.

Rossy and kern were trying to defend him the other day. Tyring to say that oh his production is down cause the Leafs were on fewer PP than the devils were a year ago (i didn tcheck facts but they said it). Just made me want to puke no the guy had a few good seasons. Ill admit I wanted him more than anything but boy am I glad we didnt get him. That being said do to needing to get to the floor id sign him or hey could a 5 or 6th round pick get him? Yes figure the buy out would make him more affordable but hey we got the room

It's that time of year again, the lines are made up and the points just don't seem to matter.

What is..whose line is it anyway?

It's beyond horrible. It's unprofessional. He's an awful hockey player

I don't personally hate him at all. I hate that he's playing for the Sabres on a nightly basis and getting moved up the lineup for "trying"

- sbroads24

Nolan is having fun with the lines. What did you want them to do? Win?

The team was heartless and unmotivated. John scott at least gives people some amusment. It was a message from Nolan to the few guys that have skill. "I will replace you with John Scott."

Because they are wastes of space. Both are awful. We can lose with Pysyk and Porter in the lineup. Outside of Ellis,Scott, Tallinder, Weber, Konopka, and D'Agostini... The others at least have a possible future here

- sbroads24

Nolan can't motivate the guys he has now. What makes you think he's the man to motivate anyone to play at a high level? Because Stafford found his way in 2014? Pretty small sample size if 1 guy is teh only example.

I'm not a huge Nolan fan, I like him but don't think he's as good as some, however Stewart is the type of player he will get a lot out of

I find it difficult to call them a joke seeing as though they still have a shot at the playoffs for a second straight year and we're losing on purposely.

I doubt they buy out Clarkson after 1 year though, He'll likely get a second chance to "earn" that contract....or something mildly close to that.

They've been on a bit of a winning streak as well. It was one thing when it looked like they had a guaranteed top 3 pick, I'll be interested to see what they decide to do now. Although if they plan on being competitive next year I'd have to think they'll keep this years pick.
