I like Ekblad,
But I think most would argue that we need more than just McDavid up front
Plus,
Our defense is in pretty good shape for the future as is
Ristolainen, Myers, Zadorov & Pysyk were all 1st round picks, and look like it
Also, McCabe looks to be a real nice pick as well

But I think most would argue that we need more than just McDavid up front
Plus,
Our defense is in pretty good shape for the future as is

Correct, people have to realise MC D will put up 80-100 points with 80% of those points comming off assists so yes we still need a shooter to score

Honestly, he will get big minutes next year in a contract year, and it might be a blessing that we won't have to overpay someone long term to get to the floor

IMO they made a wrong choice. They should have kept Suter over Rinne and I said it at the time as well.

Suter and Weber on the D pair would make thigs a lot different in Nashville, IMO.

I really like Ekblad

But if we take him, we should prob have a trade in place that moves a defenseman for a forward (Ehrhoff + for O'Reilly? Ya, I brought him up again. Haha)

Bc there's no guarantee we can attract top free agent forwards or pick up McDavid/Eichel in the draft

If we got the NYI pick this year...
I'd be ok with doing something like. Ekblad at 1 and Draisaitl at 4
Then figure we can at least get Strome or Barzal next year

So that would potentially add ROR, Draisaitl & Strome to our forward group
And have a heck of a def corps moving forward
