Girgs is not a top line player Armia is proving to not hit his potential of being a 1st line player and Grigs has been a disaster from the start... Need 1st line capable forwards plain and simple.
- bluengold12

You may be ready to give up on Armia and Grigs but I'm not. Grigs was mishandled horribly like we all know, and given new management can turn the corner. Armia's first year in NA was going to be a struggle. New ice dimensions, new team mates, new food, new everything for him. Lets see year two before he say he can't be a first line winger.

Those latter two need some time. Don't even come close to throwing in the towel yet.
- TheSabresTaco

Not throwing in the towel yet but to claim those guys are reason not to draft a forward is absurd asinine ridiculous and any other adjective you can think of.

Yeah but I'd say without actually looking at everyone's team that every single team in the NHL right now has at least one player who would be our best player by a country mile. So while we have nice prospects none are top end guys
- bluengold12

I admit the need for top end guys, but once we get 2-3 of them, we have a ton of top 6 and top 9 talent.

Adding to this thought, and to the one guy who by now seems like he's trolling from that we need Ekblad not Reinhart or x forward garbage..

Here's a quick thought. Instead of focusing on picking up one immediate forward..how about we pick up 2. That's awesome. Two amazing forwards on the top line in 2 years?! COOL! Cause..like..we have no top line players. None.

- TheSabresTaco

Can't tell if you read my entire post, but I did say that I'm hoping Reinhart. Just that if they choose not him, hoping a contingency plan was in place to trade a D and take Ekblad.

Ill say this we need 2 centers Right nwo going forward

Reinhardt and next years draft is loaded with centers. There are also a few good defensemen that we can trade up with the STl pick (if we get it) to take a good D man. Not to mention the following 2016 draft also has a ton of D talent

That's not necessarily true. All of those "top end" guys aren't prospects. They're NHL players already. Drouin may be one of the few that we could say that's true about.

The guy who was talking about us not quite being Nashville because we have those forward prospects so it would be okay to draft Ekblad because of it.

Yes their prospects okay.. But still majority of them wont amount to being better than 95% of the league's best current players per team.

Out of curiosity, who is Armia playing with in Rochester?

I wonder if his compete level goes up if he plays with better players. Maybe Grigs coming back will up his compete level?

Nope never said that. Read the whole post, don't just pick what you want. In fact my OP said i would like to take Reinhart, but if we took Ekblad with a contingency plan in place to trade a D-man I'd be fine with that. I never said don't take a forward because we have those three, just said that we weren't Nashville because we have those three who could POSSIBLY be good/great NHL players. Read the whole thing please.

It takes more than 1 player to have a good team. I think you're being overly critical of our guys and have beer goggles on when it comes to guys in other organizations.

Just because they're Sabres property doesn't mean they won't amount to anything. And just because a guy plays for a better team than we currently are doesn't make them a superstar either.

There are 20 guys that suit up on a nightly basis. Not 1, 20.

That's not necessarily true
Grigorenko & Armia have the scoring ability to become top line guys
Just bc guys don't score 20g as a rookie doesn't mean they can't still become good players
Ppl are giving up on these guys way too soon
Girgensons was the 6th forward taken his draft year, he's got potential to score at least 20 as well

That's a ridiculous over exaggeration
- jdfitz77

Is it? All I can hear for the next decade is how we still need scoring and watching Reinhart tally 70-90 points for season after season while Ekblad eventually turns into a solid rollplayer. Taking a D guy #1 or #2 is a monumental mistake. That is where ELITE scoring is.

Do they? Your bar for actual first line talent has been eroded by the Sabres.
