the leafs are finished, but i hope they win tonight. boston victory is better for us, and they're well on their way with a 3-0 lead.

I have no problem with the Leafs making the playoff, as they'd likely match up against Boston. They may not win the series, but they could definitely bang Boston up more than Columbus/Detroit.

Good thing the Caps have Ovechkin instead of Bergeron. They'd have no chance the other way around.

But remember, it's okay, because he scores goals. And since that's hard to do, his +/- means nothing.

Man, that was a fun day of debating.

The Bruins can basically just make sure they shut down the Caps' top-6 and wait for their opportunities offensively. Then just clamp down and take what the game gives them.

At least with the Flyers, we have 3 lines that can score in any given game. Still, a few flying elbows from Erskine would be appreciated in the next 20 minutes or so.

- jmatchett383

That's exactly what they're doing; Chara's out against Backstrom and Ovechkin, and the Caps' second, third and fourth lines have no answers against the B's system -- you can't beat Boston with average offensive players and checkers

Be nice, you guys -- the three goals were the result of a bad bounce that led to the first Iginla breakaway, then a PP where Ovechkin wasn't out, and the third was just, well, physical dominance by Lucic/Krejci/Iginla

I understood that street fight the other day and thought it was interesting on both sides, but Patrice Bergeron wouldn't have helped the Caps today

you don't think they can get 7 points in 9 games?
- -davies-

that was what made me look at the schedule. it sounded pretty easy and it isn't i don't think they can, it was just i see some historically bad/troublesome matchups. i also want to puke when i see teams like nj that have the equivalent of 7 wins from losing in ot

Be angrier about the Caps. I think NJ is 0-9 in shootouts or something ridiculous like that.

Jason Chimera scores off a nice rush/centering pass from Mike Green; cuts it to 3-1 with 10 seconds left in the second

Caps can at least tell themselves that they can steal a point in the third

it's funny but i just can't generate the same level of animosity toward the caps. when they were showing the fans walking around the concourse between periods, i actually felt sorry for them

Exactly -- there's a few players on that team who I don't care for, and I think their GM is a douche

But at the same time, I feel for any team/fans that has never won a Stanley Cup, because I've watched the Flyers since 1979 and I haven't seen one either

I feel bad because they put all of their eggs in the Ovechkin basket. Caps fans think he saved the franchise. He's still incredibly popular there. His popularity is on par with RG3s.

He's not a good captain and its going to be hard for them to be successful as long as its 'his' team. When your captain isn't going to give a good effort on defense, the whole team is going to follow.

Iginla was just so misused on Pittsburgh last year.
- jmatchett383

Speaking of being misused, I think Vinny will have a better season next year if he gets to play center full time. Possibly on another team.

He did, didn't he? Caps playing desperate, too -- B's working harder than they intended this period, methinks

London is playing Guelph in round 2, that's a really tough matchup without their best goalie & D man who broke his leg in the last game.

Agreed -- some guys just aren't able to play the wing after playing center

Yeah, he was a little jacked up/pissed off last night, but he also looked like a different guy from the sequence of games on the wing

Agreed. It's like the Bruins went up by three and expected the caps to just give up. They haven't and now it looks like a game
