Gonna have to give it more than 1 game before any conclusions can be reached.

Is brang a word?

I expect that 2nd line even without Lecavalier to play better then they did last night. They better. Because I don't need more then one game to know playing Hall and Rinaldo that much is not the key going forward.

Personally, I don't mind making Vinny earn his way back up. As long as he's not scratched, he'll have a chance to earn his way back into the top six in every game.

See, tomorrow's gonna be really interesting, for that reason -- if Hall and Rinaldo can't hack it at 5v5 for a few extra minutes with Vinny...OK. That's totally possible.

But we've had this problem with L2 basically all season, except when Hartnell-Schenn-Simmonds were together. That line hasn't really clicked offensively for the majority of the year.

Which...well, it's a problem.

12 10 17 looked good too, when they were together... maybe that's the solution.

Don't remember exactly... might have been one of those times that Vinny was on RW w Coots, or up on the top line.

I think 10 and 17 are fine together... just need to find a competent LW for them.

I was just kidding. Everybody loves Raffl. He's hard not to like.
- PhillySportsGuy

Speaking of Raffl...I think he's the ticket on the second line with Schenn and Simmer. He has boosted every line he has played on. Put McGinn with Read and Cooter. That's what I'd try if I were Chief. I wonder if he sticks with the Vinny 4th line experiment tomorrow when Boston visits?

I think that's okay too. And I'm glad the move was made for one reason. So he can show that he belongs at Center.

The 2nd line was good for the first 25 games or so, with Lecavalier at Center, before the back injury.

If Downie were healthy, that'd be an option.

The third line is more important than the second line. Its more important Raffl upgrade that line than Schenn's.

If Downie were healthy and able to play on the third line, Raffl would be a perfect fit for the second line.

I thought that line didn't particularly play well, but they did operate at a noticeably higher pace, especially when McGinn was flying out of the gate. They lost momentum, but let's not pretend Vinny is the answer there, whether he's in the middle or not.

Vinny on the 4th line isn't ideal in any sense, but if that's the way the cookie has to crumble, then it is what it is. He's certainly not the first great player to end up in that situation... Briere, Mike Richards, Ryan Malone, Dany Heatley, Ray Whitney have all been there this season. At least he's still in the lineup, unlike Ribiero.

I do think Downie has a shot to distinguish himself in the playoffs, given his game.

I wouldn't write him off just yet.
