He was really struggling before his injury. He had 1 point in 9 games, and it was an empty netter
EDIT: and ya, he's skating |

After last night's game, my projection of G's year-end point totals has bumped up to 92.5 - JAKEw1234

Because we're obviously unknowledgeable fans who year after year cheer on our hockey team who are just a bunch a talentless, blood thirsty, rule bending thugs, and who throw snow balls at nuns and orphans every Christmas. - 77rams

Not every guy on the 4th line needs to be physical. In 85-86, which was Pelle Eklund's rookie season, Keenan used him on the 4th line at even strength between Carson and Brown. I'm pretty sure they weren't counting on Eklund to be the mucker and grinder on that line! - BiggE
In my view a player on the 4th line does. I'm not looking for the 4th line to be a scoring line. If they can chip in a goal here or there, that's good. But I want a 4th line that is hard on the puck, hard on the forecheck, and plays well defensively. |

In the month of march he has a 1.615 pt/game pace. With 9 games left to play, that point pace would have him putting up 14.5 more points this season. Add that to his current total of 78, and his total is 92.5 pts. We'll see if he can keep pace. |

Don't think Schenn got PP time, but neither did Rinaldo and he wound up with more minutes than Schenn.
I think Berube realized the Schenn line was a dud last night and VL's line was playing pretty good. - Flyersgod
Yep, Schenn only had 1:00 of PP time. But Rinaldo, Hall, and Lecavalier all played more at ES then Schenn, Simmonds, and McGinn. |

excellent question
he can't crack the lineup in the reg season but he's going to be on the top two lines for the playoffs - -davies-
The BSchenn line is really the 3rd line in terms of minutes. It's not crazy for people to think Akeson could do a better job there than McGinn. He's the Phantoms leading scorer by a huge margin. |

The question I have is why hasn't Akeson been recalled at any point this season when the Flyers needed a player? |

Wouldn't it have been nice to have Gagne as an option instead of debating Akeson and McGinn?

When have they had to replace a skill player? So far as I remember, they've only needed to replace someone who plays physically. |

If I recall correctly, McGinn played a number of games on the top line hasn't he? |

So, ya. I think if G, Voracek, or Read went down, we'd be more likely to see Akeson. |

Maybe they feel he has little left, maybe it's what he's looking for in any deal...........or something else altogether |

I'd be suprised if Akeson would replace Read, who is a two way player and PKer. And Hartnell is a skill player. |

It could be a lot of things. Maybe he just didn't like any of the offers he got, if he got any. I'm just suprised he was out of the League all year. |

I think he was content on playing in Philly and only Philly. Taking a year off may help rest the body and take some of the concerns about injuries away this off season. Just speculating. I'm actually a little offended by the way they treated Gagne as well. I feel like they really strung him along into believing they were going to resign him when they could make some room and than decided not to.
If he would take a modest contract he'd be an excellent compliment to Coots as a defensive minded winger who can help Coots collect some points. |
