For those of you gearing up for playoff pools, keep in mind the new playoff format:

First two rounds are divisional, followed by a crossover for the conference finals. Those of you picking a Chicago-St. Louis conference final: it can't happen. They would play in the second round.

Just something to keep in mind. If you pick Blues and Blackhawks, you are guaranteed to lose players after round 2.

Finally we are assured of the missed playoffs. I was getting nervous of all the winning lately. To retool this year is probably the best time. We have a weak draft so the management wont be dumping vets for picks and go in a tail spin like Edm or Fla. The cap is going up and the core is getting older. Some guys that want to win will be okay with being traded. Hopefully we make smart hockey trades. Get players with cap hit back if that means getting that 2lc or top 6 winger. I just hope MG really does have a plan. I hope they don't buy out Booth but instead use that money to send Torts home. Hire a younger generation coach that believes in youth and Move MG to president role and hire a real GM with experience and an eye for talent. Get rid of guys like Kesler, Burrows, Hensen, Higgins, Edler. Although we might have missed the boat on Burrows and Edler. Burrows cannot create chances. He needs to be setup, but Henrik is old, slow and has too many injuries that he played through over the years for this iron man streak and now they are taking its toll on his body. Borrows will no longer be useful and before you make the argument about penalty kill and energy, this team is full of 3rd and 4th line guys for PK and energy. Whatever Canucks do I hope they don't bring up Bo and Shink next year. Give them 1 year in A to get used to bigger and faster player and better goalies.

Agree on all that also trade Bieksa and Hamhuis while they still have value. Fill in with free agents who will sign for 1 or 2 years who will be attractive to other teams at next years deadline. Rebuild with young players and look to contend in 3-4 years.
