You want Trotz?

Better than Torts and he's a player's coach. Not his fault he's never had offense to work with. Don't let the lack of neck cloud your judgement.

So with the same roster, you'd expect Trotz to coach a more offensive team than Torts? An Trotz has only been "successful"(loosely using) coaching a tight defensive system, who says he's knows how to even teach/coach a good offensive system?

He's a great hire for a small market team with a low budget that just wants to stay competitive enough to sell tickets and hopefully get into the playoffs for a first round loss.

As will most top UFA's. IMO signing top UFA's only make sense to push you over the top when you already have a good strong contending core to begin with. Teams like the Canucks should only be interested if there's good value.

I think I heard once that Babcock was a bad fit for the wings because he only knew how to coach defense.

Anyway, would the Canucks record be better with Trotz? Maybe, maybe not but it would be a step in the right direction to help shed the label of a hated team which Torts does nothing to improve.

No to UFA's. With this team out of the running and the poor season players need to be moved and youth needs to be brought up. All the hype at the beginning of the season from Tort's and Gillis about youth we haven't seen them up until now and only because there is no other choice. The one thing that drives me nuts about this team is all the BS propaganda we have to endure from management and coaching.

I'd rather bring in a coach who's shown the ability to coach a decent offensive system rather than hope a defensive guy changes his ways.

That would be my last reason to bring in a coach, who cares if we have a label as a hated team, the Stanley cup is not given to the winner of a popularity contest.

Don't care about that either, it's a stupid reason to get rid of a player or coach that can help you win. I'll take the team full of a$$holes that can win over the classy losers anyday.

I hope Torts and Gillis stay. It's perfect just as it is.

I hope Toews is gone for the season - Kane too.

I'm not even buying the defensive system JT is pushing. Imo there is such a thing as to much shot blocking or trying to block a shot that you could depend on your goalie to stop. I am all about playing your position. Look at Anaheim the other day perfect positional play. You play your spot and don't over play puck the good things will happen. That has been one of the big mistakes all season.

Let's go Bluejays!
- Scooby_Doo

Off to a typical Blue Jays start. down 6 donut and it only took them a half inning to get there first injury.

Typical.

But that wont stop me from watching every game this year.

I'll be down in Seattle when they come

i'd love him to play with karlsson. it's unlikely that the sens will ever find the weber/chara type (unless they draft and develop him), so if not that, then another possession PMD.......they might not thrive in their own zone, but with both of them on the ice, they'd probably spend about 90% of their time in the ohter teams zone.

Edler thrived with Ehrhoff so I have no doubts he'd be solid with Karlsson instead of Garrison.

do you think a deal like wiercioch and stone would be enough.

wiercioch - 23, big, puck mover....40 pts in 95 career games

stone - 21, big, strong net presence. he's a goal scorer. not much NHL experience, but GREAT in the AHL. has looked very good in our top six in limited NHL experience.

really?

both are young. both have shown (although stone in limited games) that they can play top six/four minutes.

you guys have VERY LITTLE talent below the age of about 29-30....i would think two players like (both with very low cap hits) would be EXACTLY what the canucks would need.

If either player is on Gillis' spreadsheets then it will get done. He seems to target specific players in his transactions. If either is one of the players he covets I'm sure he'd trade edler for him + whatever else.
