Has this devolved into "Why don't the Flyers reveal their contract particulars when they're out there for all to see soon after?" yet? |

Curious why you didn't post the link to the article with the quotes from Iginla and others. Probably because the same article had quotes where Ken Holland thought that Johan Franzen was being targeted in the playoffs, when he was coming off a concussion. - MJL
Followed immediately by Holland's suggestion that selective non-disclosure should only cover the PO's, not the regular season. Guess you missed that part of it.
Ex Maple Leafs GM John Ferguson... - MJL
Lol, who's next in your line of credible/competent witnesses... Mike Milbury?
But I understand that the narrative exists that everything the Flyers, and Holmgren does is wrong. - MJL
It doesn't come from me. |

I love how some members of the peanut gallery make themselves out to be above the fray, the day after they "bluntly" told another poster to "get (frank)ed" over an inane debate, and nary weeks after they threw a tantrum and said "(frank) it, I'm done with this place!" only to come slinking back moments later.
Everybody argues BS in this forum. Pretending like you don't is the real joke. |

Yes, everyone argues here, and prople get heated. However, you and MJL go over and over and over some pointless debate on a daily basis. You cry about, "He's always coming on here and picking fights with me." You know what, buddy? You're the same way. For all intents and purposes, you are the anti-MJL.
I like both of you, and you both have some good points. But every day you both pick some random argument and make it into some epic debate seeing who has the bigger schlong.
I will predict that, withing 2 days, you and MJL will again embrace in a 7-page pissing match over some small detail that gets blown way out of proportion. You wanna bet against that?
Edit: FWIW, AllInForFlyers can get exactly that. But the thing is, after he pissed me off, I was able to stop replying to his messages. You just keep escalating it (both of you). |

And you're going to pretend that you won't with somebody else? Oh wait, you just come on here for the adorable gifs and only the elevated intellectual discussion portion of the boards? Common.

Okay buddy.
Well, after this nice little interlude, you can call up 1700 charts and spread sheets to prove to him that advanced stats are the be-all/end-all of player and team assessment and I'm sure, this time, he'll agree.
Enjoy your day. |

some people need to try to prove they have a big Richard by swinging it around in public.
if someone is really just trying to make their point they'd be willing to take it to PMs at some point long before they made an ass out of themselves for pages at a time. at least someone who isn't a complete douche anyway. |

I didn't miss anything. I willing to fully disclose any information that I find. Which wasn't done with the NY times article that the Iginla and other statements were posted from.
Whether Freguson was a good GM or not is irrelevant. The fact is that he was a GM, and he states that those types of things actually happened. In that regard he is fully credible.
Mike Milbury who was also an NHL player and a GM could also attest to this issue. Regardless of how anyone feels about his commentary or knowledge.
And the really the most obvious peice of evidence is where the NHL injury reporting policy came from. It came from the GM's. That's all we really need to know. That makes it pretty obvious. And that Holmgren is not the only incompetent GM I guess. Unless of course anyone thinks it was passed by the GM's simply to mess with the media.
I think this is pretty much done here. |

Is it possible that not disclosing injuries has at least something to do with keeping other coaches guessing? Messes up your game plan just a tad bit, I would think, if you don't know whether the other guy is playing or not, which would change the lines etc, and also whether he would be able to take draws, take a slapshot etc.

That logic has not really translated in the NFL, where they are far more forthright about injuries. I'm not saying that the NHL would follow the same pattern by fully disclosing injuries, rather just pointing out that injured body parts don't glaringly appear to be targeted in the NFL. - BOSS_TWEED
The NFL is forthright because they're in bed with gambling on a much larger scale and fear the consequences of a scandal that revolves around fake or undisclosed injury information. |

You know that's BS, right?
The nature of injuries do eventually get reported in most instances, and some can't even be hidden (for example, Stamkos' leg)... yet we don't really hear about rampant targeting being a problem until.... the issue of secrecy comes up. And even injuries that can't be targeted are hidden.
NHL teams just seem to enjoy playing the cat and mouse game with the media... 90% of the teams won't even disclose player salaries, despite the salary cap. They would rather leak the details in secret themselves or wait for central registry to leak them.
It's all a pointless exercise that just somehow got enshrined. - Tomahawk
You mean you don't notice the attempted head shots at guys with concussion histories. The constant targeting of G's wrists? It's not a fake issue. |
