If they lose home ice to the Rags by one point will you care?
- PLindbergh31

also makes me angry that we are losing extra points by taking the best teams in the league to SO and sucking in it, and rags racking up points with cupcake schedule down the stretch.

actually a decent night no one below them gained ground. A really well played game by both teams can't be disappointed by the results. Btw, the Craps!!! That is all!!!!
- ravishingone

The utter dismantling of the craps is hilarious.
I am praying for Ovie to get the nhl record: first ever to lead the league in goals and be worst. Dead franking last in +/-
Plus minus isn't the best stat I realize but in this instance it is on point.

The Flyers magic number to clinch a playoff berth is 6 points, because the Leafs hold the tiebreaker. That said, they done some good work over this Hellish stretch of schedule.
- Jsaquella

is that a combination of points won and lost or they need to earn 6?

I'd rather play the best down the stretch rather than cupcake teams...flyers are due to win at msg... If they play like they did today I see no issue with the rags

They are such a soft team. GMs like McPhee and Poile, I don't understand how their fan bases don't revolt with how each teams are constructed. That Varly trade to the Avs is looking pretty bleak right now.

can somebody dig up the flyers all-time record in the SO? i have to imagine it's somewhere around a .250 winning % at best.
- hammarby31

I'd also imagine they have to be in the bottom 5 teams, all time.

as would i, and overall they're taking every one of their opponents to the mat, except the game against the rags. this will help them come PO time.

Points earned.

Right now they have 87, total needed to clinch a spot right now is 93.

They aren't beating the Rangers if the series starts at MSG. If they get home ice they have a pretty good chance.
- PLindbergh31

If they can't beat the Rangers in MSG, then there is no way they will get a win in Boston later in the playoffs. Gotta break the drought some time, might as well be in the playoffs.

Yes, because the Leafs are still alive and they hold the tie breaker on Flyers because of head to head record

flyers should just pull their goalie with <2 minutes in OT... they are that bad at SOs.

6-2-2

Can't complain with that. They've played extremely well against the best in the league

agreed. I guess it really boils down to I hate losing points after a tough fought game because of a skills comp. hits me harder that we suck at the SO that I loathe so much

Yep. Heading into the Bruins game, they needed 50 % of the remaining points. As teams have lost or won, it's bumped their number. Getting six points locks up a spot-that's it. doesn't guarantee seed.

Even if the Rags win tonight, they will be 3 points ahead of the Flyers. Flyers have two games in hand. If I'm reading that correctly Flyers control their own destiny for the # 2 spot in the Division.

Agreed. At some point the MSG thing is just string of stats. No hidden meanings. Like a couple years ago when the couldn't win an afternoon game. What matters is on the ice---the rags and king Henry.

The d core is playing very solid. AMac has made a tremendous difference anchoring the third pairing and moving up to other pairing depending on game situations.

Finally, Grossmann is rounding back into being Grossmann. Playing positionally sound and getting his body in the way. Will never be pretty with the puck on his stick, but playing much better positional hockey.

The leafs may be "alive" but their fans are basically suicidal at this point.

While I do get being annoyed they only got 1 point tonight I think they deserve even more credit:

1. No timonnen
2. No Mason
