So does this count as a shutout for emery?

Even if the Rags win tonight, they will be 3 points ahead of the Flyers. Flyers have two games in hand. If I'm reading that correctly Flyers control their own destiny for the # 2 spot in the Division.
- PLindbergh31

they do. but these lost SO points are hurting them.

every time i watch us lose in the SO i marvel that they beat the rangers with boucher in net to get in to the playoffs. ridiculous.

While I do get being annoyed they only got 1 point tonight I think they deserve even more credit:

1. No timonnen
2. No Mason

- opeth_pa

Timo, yes ... but not sure Mason could have done any better than Emery did.

i believe it does, but i'm not sure. if it doesn't, it's (frank)ing criminal. he was great tonight.

they should feel better after tonight's win.
- FlyerGuy

Not much. They slowed their free fall by hitting a branch.

Emery was great ... but Miller was even better. Superb goaltending by both guys.

not really. but he should be. count jake for that late blown chance, and g for just sucking moose balls.

Ironic that they are so bad in shootouts, yet they won the biggest shootout in franchise history.

The schedule has been brutal the last 3+ weeks. They have done a good job gaining ground on almost everyone.

They have lost 4 of 5 now, Thursday is a huge game. A regulation win would be enormous.

miller was terrific. probably the best game i've seen him play. he had a few robberies but i thought emery was just as good, faced a ton of great point blankers through traffic and he just got in the way and made the save. it wasn't as pretty because it didn't need to be.

God I know, why didn't the Flyers try harder.
That scrub team on the other side hasn't done anything and they should feel horrible for only getting a point on the road.

Sometimes the others team goalie makes a lot of really good saves which prevents you from scoring. It's got nothing to do with the Flyers pissing away anything, Miller got the Blues 2 points tonight.

- opeth_pa

I agree. They took 3 of 4 from the top team in the NHL and lost the point in the gimmick. But I didn't think they were crisp. So they didn't play their best and took a point. Can't complain. 6 points by any combination of Flyers wins and opponents loses is pretty damn good odds. I'll take it.

As of right now, Pittsburgh can clinch the division by getting a point or having the Flyers lose one more point.
The most points the Flyers can earn is 101.
The most the Rangers can get is 100.

In the division, the Jackets can top out at 97
Washington can top out at 94
and NJ can top out at 92.

Wild card wise, Detroit can top out at 98
The Leafs can top out at 92
Ottawa can get to 92
Carolina can get to 89
Isles can get to 84.

So that means the Flyers can not be caught by NY. one more win by the Flyers or loss by the Canes means that they can't catch the Flyers even if they win out.

5 points, either way, eliminates Ottawa and NJ from catching the Flyers, while 6 does it for the Leafs, due to the tie breaker.

Him not shooting on the 2 on 1 was brutal, seemed like a last minute pass too. Granted if Raffl scores then we're all praising him.

Nah. Raffl gets better by the game. He gets lots of quality chances which is good to see, once he starts finishing he's going to be a 20 goal scorer.

i don't count these SO games against boston and st. louis as losses. they aren't. the rangers/kings, yes. that said, they've only picked up 4 out of 10 points. thursday is indeed huge.

G should have just ripped it or gone in and made a move. he was glancing at raffl much of the way down. miller knew he was going there.

Yup. Gotta give Miller a lot of credit on the 2nd Raffl save. The first, he was probably as surprised as the rest of us that G didn't take it in all the way...he had a clean look.

he's been a very good player for them much of the season, and he'll just get better. kid came out of nowhere, so we have to be happy with that. he did not look like he would stick in the beginning of the year, but he earned his way. maybe he'll turn into a red wings-like 9th round/fa signing player.

The thing that sucks is, the Flyers have just one game against a team in the division/conference that helps them directly gain ground. The rest are teams that will not catch them or are highly unlikely to do so (Buffalo, Florida & Carolina) or Teams that they can't catch or are unlikely to( Boston, Pittsburgh & Tampa)

Miller was a brick wall tonight. Have to tip your cap. Emery was very good too.
Flyers could have broken the game open in the first period. Credit goes to Miller, but the Flyers should have buried at least 2 of those chances.

those are goals. get the puck up and it's in the net. kind of like carter shooting into niemi's face at ice level.

I thought Rayzor was terrific tonight.

The could have won that game, but getting a point on the road against StL is pretty good.
