They work better if you have a more desirable city to attract free agent and retain your own players(no offense, and plus you guys should be better off when you move and Wang is no longer in charge). A competent GM, a team willing to spend to the cap and a decent scouting staff also helps.

Just watched it on Youtube and I don't see it. The rangers announcers are complaining about it being from behind yet he clearly hits him in the side/front. Looks like his shoulder was jammed in a awkward position.

Not a direct head shot or from behind. It was unnecessary but he's playing to the whistle and it wasn't even that hard(look at how little the boards moved).
