That is a major reason why the Blues decided to move on from Perron. He has a ton of skill, but this stuff happened way too often. |

Perron has earned the right to be cut a little slack on a brutal team, you'd be pissed too if you had Lander and Gagner for linemates!.......Nice to see RNH remember what he's here for.......Gagner was invisible and Smyth should just hang his old balls up already! |

Pretty sure Hall is doing pretty decent as well. - SpoiledByOil
I guess so. His 5-on-5 numbers have been incredible. If the PP was chugging along at the same rate as in past years, it's conceivable that he could have passed 80 points by now. I guess I just didn't include his performance due to A.) the fact that I already knew he had this in him (after last season) and B.) his possession numbers have taken a substantial hit this season for whatever reason. |

You can thank one man for that... Eakins. Both Nuge and Eb excel on the power play and well eakins (frank)ed that up. I think these guys would each have 10-15 more points if we didn't run such a bad power play - OilerFan16
Same with Hall Perron and Shultz then. |

I think clutch and grab penalties (holding, hooking, interference, tripping) are another good indication of the other team winning the possession battle.
We did a good job for a while, but as the game wore on their forecheck was very powerful and we had a hard time getting similar sustained pressure - lots of guys were trying to "make it last" any way they knew how.
A good effort, but another indication for me of how our problems are mostly related to Zone exits and boardplay in our own corners. In short, we need that top defender and that was on display today. - Morris
It is scary how often I read comments from Oilers fans and see how they apply almost perfectly to the Leafs also.

what I wouldn't give for an artificial bubble of success to begin the year though, instead of the opposite. |

Agree... What the (frank) for- may as well keep it close- have the lead- then when under 10 mins left in every 3rd period take 2-4 penalties |

I don't know we know how the year was going to end by xmas. Now Toronto has all summer to ask the all mighty question of WHY? Its there own fault I said on here I don't want to end up like the Leafs counting on are goalies every game. I knew it would bite them in the ace. |

For sure, I said those two because everyone expected them to have more points and If Eakins wasn't such a dipsh!t we would probably have an extra 20 goals this season (give or take) |

That is such a big 'if'.... It is extremely hard to say he wont be as big of a dippoop next season either... But we all hope for improvement for the team and increased brains from the coaching group... |

Yeah it's a tough position for Nuge to be in but he's expected to be a #1C already!
As discussed, if Eakins had managed better special teams, not only would our players be more confident at 5 on 5, we'd be far higher in the standings goaltending or no. |
