Hall was already gone. and even still, he's got 5 fewer points than Seguin.
- DoubleDown

Here's the thing, without Kessel that year they'd finish last ergo having Hall available.

Although I think Hall's pretty damn awesome, you take the centre any day of the week.

Prolly, the entire time they are polishing the cup, they will be regretting it. I agree.

A) i'm quite certain that Boston has yet to be awarded the Cup. but i'll try to verify this through the NHL offices. please bear with me.
B) the idea that, even if they do win the Cup, that they couldn't have won it without making that trade, is completely ridiculous.

Habs won because they are divers, and because of the refs.

the Oilers finished like 15 points behind the Leafs that year dude Kessel is good, but he's not worth 15 points in the standings.

Point is, much like Kessel, they felt Seguin was expandable moving forward.

I believe Seguin got a swift kick in the balls when he got traded and that's why we are seeing him improve and finally grow up. Something the Bruins couldn't get out of him.

That only like 8 wins. I'm not saying he had 8 GWGs but I'm pretty sure you take all his goals away and it might have an effect on 8 wins.

Playing with Benn doesn't hurt either.

I'm still thinking they could have gotten a lot better return though.

yeah but where i see the difference between Kessel and Seguin is that Seguin is a centre. anyway obviously they had their reasons for the move and Chiarelli has done a great job there. and maybe they don't end up regretting it. but a few years down the road, we'll see the long term effects of that deal in Boston.

They have 2 players in their line up contributing just as much as Seguin is now ding in Dallas, they are 1st in the East and will most likely battle for a Cup.

Still... better off to trade him for top prospects that will help come their rebuild than an aging Eriksson.

Like Adam said... it will hurt them down the road.

As much as Boston likes to give away good players, they are nowhere near the levels of the Islanders.

I seriously feel sorry for NYI fans.
