I really don't think it's necessary to move into the top 10. I'd imagine it'd cost and a lot and I think they should just see how things play out- try to not deal away picks or kids. The future for this team is bright...no need to really alter anything drastically like this IMO - Giroux_Is_God
I don't know. I'm no expert, but I was looking at this draft, and deep is one thing it is not (projection-wise). There's a heavy 3, a solid 5, a good 10, and then it's like a drop off a cliff. Granted, the top 3 are a weak top-3, but the drop off around 10 seems significant. Again, all projection-wise.
That said, I wouldn't move any core pieces going forward. Maybe Cousins + 2014 1st or something. |

So...Adam Oates called out Ovechkin for lack of hustle and backchecking.

But...goals... - jmatchett383
I'm sure Claude Julien will be calling out Bergeron for the same soon... |

Not sure what it would take, and it's a long ways away, but what would you guys think about the Flyers trading up to around #6 and trying to snag Haydn Fleury from Red Deer? He's out up some pretty good numbers on a pretty bad Red Deer team.
Or maybe move into the top-10 and got for Anthony DeAngelo from Sarnia (he's from Sewell, NJ). - jmatchett383
If they don't give up any big pieces I'd be all for it. I love Fleury's skill set and those WHL defensemen seem to turn into great NHLers.
I would stay away from DeAngelo. Obviously he's intriguing because of his puck moving and offensive ability, but he's undersized and has had issues with immaturity this year (I think he's been suspended on two separate occasions for violating the league’s harassment policy.).
I would like the Flyers to draft a forward if they stand pat in their spot. Someone like Dylan Larkin or I'm hoping Kapanen or Kempe falls into their laps (wishful thinking). |

Being that the draft is in Philly, Snider will want to make some kind of splash. No way they just keep the pick and select in what will be in the 15-20 range - PLindbergh31
The Flyers aren't going to make a move because they want to make a splash because the draft is in Philly. They're going to approach it like they would in any draft, regardless of where it is located. |

He's a guy I can see them trading up a few spots to get. He fits their mold.
Trading into the top 10 will be very costly, but trading up 5 spots won't be as bad |

thank you
Why are we suddenly omniscient? Like we're basically putting words into Snider/Homer's mouths here. There's no basis for any of this "they'll make a move because Snider will want to make a splash with the draft in philly" poop. It's quiet laughable and hilariously invalid. |

Almost as laughable and hilariously invalid as employing a goon year after year, when they went the way of the Edsel 20 years ago. |

Hmm I must be getting him confused with someone else.
What's the book on him? Kind of like a Tom Wilson (before this year)? Goes through people but has nice hands and a good offensive game? |

Haven't seen all that much of him. From what I've read, he's more of a Simmonds type. Tenacious along the boards with good hands and a good shot. |

Certainly fits the mold, like you said. Have to start reading up on the kids coming up. Tis (almost) the season! |

I don't think its worth trading up that far. I just don't feel the difference of talent between the middle of the draft and the top of the draft is that huge. Its not like they'd be trading up for a Sean Monahan at that spot.
I feel this is a draft where the scouting is going to be very important. There will be good players and they may be found anywhere in the first round. - PhillySportsGuy
If the price wasn't exorbitant, I'd love a shot at Ehlers.
But yeah, I mostly agree with your stance that moving up in this particular draft wouldn't necessarily guarantee a better player -- like passing on a shot at Jeff Jillson to take Oleg Saprykin. |

I think Ehlers is almost a guarantee to go in the top 10. He's electrifying though. |
