Only 17 players, thus far, have scored 30 or more goals this year. - LeftCoaster
I can't even imagine what it's like to have a 30 goal scorer.

I thought Edler blew the coverage on that short hander. Left the shooter for the goalie but terrible coverage on St. Louis. Should have had the pass or if not then the shot. |

I'm hoping that we trade Kesler to the Ducks for Ottawa's 1st plus Etem and then draft Ehlers and HoSang...

That it?
JJ mentioned a mix of Terro, Shaw, Leddy 1st.
This is Kesler we are talking about.........not Edler - Whiskey-Tango
JJ also mentioned there would be more go from Vancouver to Chicago. At this point I wouldn't do that deal from a Chicago perspective. Kesler is great and I'd love to have him on the team...but we're giving up a lot of long term depth for 2 years of Kesler.

Agreed, apart from a second line center (Kesler), what else are you boys lacking?
Adding Higgins or Hansen to the mix seems feasible. |

you think any team is gonna dish up a top 6 forward, d-man and a pick for a guy who is terrible defensively and doesnt even put up a lot of points anymore?
My guess is that ? would be lucky to bring in a 2nd and mediocre prospect from a team like Carolina or New Jersey - GardinerExpress

Kesler may help to get Kane re-signed and a re-signed Kane might help to get Kesler signed to an extension. Pretty nice to be able to roll out Selke #1 and Selke #2 on your top two lines, complimented by the likes of Sharpe, Kane, Hossa et al. |

Markstom will most likely be packaged to either Buff for Islanders 1st or to Islanders for 1 of the fwds. Canucks will get an vet that can play upto 35 games to backup Lack.
The player that no one talks about that I want to see Canucks make a run for next year is Vbrada. This guy has been quietly putting up impressive numbers without any elite level support. Imagine him with Sedins. |

Does Nyguist get nominated for the Hart Trophy? I gotta think, yes. - Chest Rockwell
Interesting question, especially as he's arguably been the league's best player in 2014 and a large reason Detroit has made their late push into the playoffs.
What stands out for me is that he's putting up these kinds of numbers without any elite support and doing it in nearly every situation. |

I think you might be overvaluing Markstrom's current value in the trade market. He's not worth the 5th overall pick, nor would he be worth much to the Islanders who already have Nilsson and Poulin, prospects that might be further along but at the very least are on a similar level right now.
I do like Vrbata but wonder how much he'll be asking for as a UFA. He was on 3m per on his previous contract. |

I don't buy into the fact that Kane may be difficult to re-sign. Money won't be an issue, and where will Kane better a better shot at winning than in Chicago. From day 1 the Blackhawks have supported Kane and treated him well, even when he went through some of his public issues.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have Kesler on the team. But that trade just trades one problem for another. We'd have a great 1-2 centre punch for the short term, but we lose our 3C and great grit guy in Shaw. Teravainen could be the solution to the 2C dilemma and I think Chicago will want to give him a try. I'm not worried about losing Leddy, I've never been a big fan and I don't think he'll be in the long term plans of the club, but he's departure would leave a hole on D too so if that trade happened he'd need to get Tanev or Stanton in return. |

Could you imagine CHI getting Stanton back in trade after they waived him? |

I know that sounds silly, but the club was high on Stanton and did not want to lose him. Sadly he was a victim of the numbers in Chicago. Personally I'd think Tanev would be Chicago's target. |

Listening to MG on the TEAM this morning, he sounds pretty high on Markstrom. It also sounds like Torts is probably going to get canned if Gillis has his way. MG wants to get back to an up tempo, puck possession type game that better suits our personal. i don't think Torts is capable of that.
As for Radim Vrbata, I don't think he would fit into the direction on size and youth that MG wants to go. |

The more I hear Gillis talk about Torts, the he is a proven winner sort of comments the more I see him being gone before Gillis. Gillis' last comment was the puck possession stuff, I was hoping Pratt or Jake would have asked if Torts could coach that way before it was over but I guess they suck and were running late for a commercial
IIRC, during one of Gillis' interviews on the radio a while back he said something about the players all being professionals and should be able to play Torts' system. Now it sounds like Gillis really doesn't like Torts' system |

No overvaluing Markstrom. If packaged properly that pick could be had. Buff has a ton of picks this year and would be willing to trade 1 of the top 5 picks. Markstrom, Our 1st (top 10) for NYI 1st (top 5) or Markstom, Hansen, 1st and 3rd for Buff 1st overall. Yes NYI has some good goalie prospects but you are forgetting the Snow factor. |
