Think of this differently. If they get an offensive minded coach and a true sniper. By Vantels logic we will have the perfect top 2 lines.
Burrows(poop disturber) Hank(passer) Jensen (Scorer)
Vbrada Kesler Kassian
Santo Mathias Kassian
Higgins Richardson Sestito
Offensive minded coach will use the D we have that can skate and score. This team will make the playoffs. - Linden_4_Capt
More youth needed. I won't be getting on the Vbrada train or the Burrows train. Burrows is over paid not just because he has had one bad luck season. He is a 3rd line player. Not a fan of his past antics either. He has done good on this team but his time is up. I am a huge Jensen fan though. As most here already know I felt he should have made the season starting line up. |

We should put Kassian on all 4 lines. I wouldn't call Vrbata a true sniper. I'd say Vanek falls more into that category. - Chest Rockwell
We wont be able to afford Vanek. He will sign with the highest bidder at around 8-9mil. Cap going up lots of teams will have the space. If Pronger retires Philly will have space as well. This is the only year the Holmgrem has not done anything at deadline. He will bit sit quite in the off season. |

I will summarize the last minute for you.
He wants to play upbeat puck possession game. If the personal they have do not believe in that system then he will make the tough choices and change the personal. He believes he has the team to play the style he wants....read between the lines. - Linden_4_Capt
He also mentioned under performing players...
I wonder if at the end of year interviews players will be jabbed a bit to maybe ask for trades if they have ntc's? Sounds passive aggressive but who knows.

Ah ha, the old 'process' topic. Hopefully, this off season's reset includes firing the coach |

Outside of Gaunce and Jensen, none of out youth is ready for next year. Gaunce is going to be 3lc at best. If you really want him and have him rotate with Sestito. Move up and down the line based on injuries.
Jensen could have made the lineup of our coach went to see the training camp for youth. instead Torts opted to settle in the city and only saw Jensen for 1 game before he got hurt. |

Just so I'm clear, Cammerelli is NOT the answer this off season. |

So we sign a 31 yr old Vrbata for $6m per, double-shift Kassian, demote Higgins to 4th line duties, I'm assuming Hansen gets traded, start a rookie on the top line, and put Daniel in the press box?
Yep, things are looking up. |

And you think Olli Jokinen is?

Any coach with brains will see that Sedins are the most effective at low 18min mark. Kesler is healthy and effective around the same mark. That means 6 extra mins. Kassian currently plays 12 bump him to 15 and roll all 4 lines. - Linden_4_Capt
Doing this equals wins. How many games have we lost this year due to top teams 3rd and 4th line scoring on us. When you count on your top 2 line to do all the work you going to lose. Since when did we become the team that has the most fights by one player? I am not against fighting but christ it just shows frustration and our lack of depth. Sure we aren't really getting pushed around but we aren't getting respect either. The best teams in the league are rolling all 4 lines. Depth. |

Pronger will stay on LTIR, it's the only way to keep his cap hit off the books. I'd rather have Moulson over Vanek, he'd be cheaper.
But if I had my chose, I'd rather trade Kesler and Edler to fill the gaps in our line up that would enable us to truly roll 4 lines. I think that shock the core enough for the time being. |

I commented on this yesterday. At this point I'm almost positive they've made the conscious decision to shut down Markstrom for the season to give him a good chunk of time with Melanson before camp. Something went astray in his development at Florida and I'm guessing the Canuck brass still feel he's an asset worth investing time into. - AlexF
I agree. Thank goodness we have Melanson. He seems to be good with young goalies. Why did we keep him around again? I'm pretty sure it was because he worked well with Shneids. *single rolling tear.
I don't think getting Markstrom was part of any master plan. GMMG was forced into that trade and now he has to figure it out on the fly. I'm guessing Gillis will go into next year with both Lack and Markstrom because he doesn't know what else to do.
Of our three Swedish goalies, I have a feeling that Eriksson will be the best. He seems to be adjusting nicely to the NA game.

Interesting question, especially as he's arguably been the league's best player in 2014 and a large reason Detroit has made their late push into the playoffs.
What stands out for me is that he's putting up these kinds of numbers without any elite support and doing it in nearly every situation. - AlexF
I'd love to see Nyquist win the Hart!
I'd also love to see Columbus make a big playoff run that results in Kesler suddenly wanting to play there. |
