Let's define the "core."

Daniel Sedin: Signed until 2017-2018 @ $7 million per year with a no movement clause. ie: Impossible to move
Henrik Sedin: Signed until 2017-2018 @ $7 million per year with a no movement clause. ie: Impossible to move
Ryan Kesler: Signed until 2015-2016 @ $5 million per year with a no trade clause. Apparently has agreed to waive NTC, could get a nice return.
Alex Burrows: Signed until 2016-2017 @ $4.5 million per year with a no trade clause. Not great trade value right now anyways.
Edler: No trade clause.
Bieksa: No trade clause.
Hamhuis: No trade clause.
Garrison: No trade clause.

Damn it.

- hankthetank

In the majority of cases a NTC just means they get to pick where they go. Very few of those guys would just downright not accept a trade out if asked. The Sedins would never be asked, but I doubt any of the rest would say no. They'd just have short lists of acceptable destinations.

I'm sure he's referring to the Sedins, because he always does lol; but I'm in agreement with you in that you'll see at least three players moved this year. And no not the Sedins Vantel

1) Kesler
2) Edler

Bringing back my 3way trade proposal...

To PHI: Kesler, Byfuglien
To WPG: B.Schenn, Coburn (prairie boy waives NTC), PHI 1st
To VAN: E.Kane, WPG 1st, NHL rights to Burmistrov

Draft Ehlers w/ WPG's pick
Draft Kempe w/ our pick

Sedin Sedin Burrows
Kane Horvat Kassian
Ehlers Burmistrov Jensen

Eventually those young/fast/exciting middle lines will be our top 6 & we'll have Gaunce & Kempe on the 3rd.

- DrChristianTroy

So Winnipeg gives up E Kane, Byfuglien, Burmistrov and a 1st to get B Schenn, Coburn and Philly's 1st.

Garth Snow.

It's the only big name, top dollar free agent that will go there.

If MG could somehow pull that off, I'd be on board but the Jets GM would likely be run out of town IMO. Seguin apparently has off-ice issues, ask Dallas how he's working out with Benn. Edmonton is just poorly managed and doesn't have enough(any?) quality veterans that can control a locker room.
- Nucker101

Which is part of the reason why the Canucks can't just sell off every veteran on the team like some suggest. Ask the Oilers how that's working out.

Wrong. He is 35+ which means the cap hit remains. This was in place in the last cba as well
- Bieksa#3

Cap advantage recapture charge is new to this CBA. Pronger was injured well before this new CBA. Not sure the recapture was in the past CBA but I highly doubt Betman will put up a fight if both Jacobs and Snider both decided to retire savard and pronger.

Child plz... Under normal circumstances Kane would be entering his rookie season at 23.
- DrChristianTroy

Seguin is younger

Dude's not a lost cause no matter how badly you want that to be true. He's 22yrs old, has 97 NHL goals (197 total points), and hits/skates like an absolute SSSAVAGE (One Man Thrill Ride Voice). He'll mature in the right situation. I'm not saying the Canucks provide that environment, but ideally they SHOULD and he COULD.
- DrChristianTroy

I'd take E Kane in a heartbeat.

- KB3Point0

All I hear from WPG is b!tching about Kane, Byfuglien's laziness/inconsistency. Burmistrov is a wasted asset. Worth next to nothing unless a team can convince him to come back to the NHL.

Kane & Schenn are a wash if WPG is willing to give up on Evander.
Coburn brings consistency (albeit unspectacular) to their back end... Apparently Philly wanted Buff.
The swap of picks is a difference of what... 10 slots?

I may be completely wrong, but I'm assuming they'd consider it addition by subtraction. Lopsided trades happen all the time and these are the types of extenuating circumstances that make them possible.

So? What does that have to do with what I said about Kane?

Mike Gillis can say whatever he wants about playing an up-tempo game, truth be told, he hasn't put a GD top six forward on the team in three years. Why is that gonna change now?

Also, as long as Henrik & Daniel are on the team, John Tortorrella is not the coach to coach this team!!

But they love Torts style and they also love killing penalties.

Not trying to troll, just trying to make a point. Players, Mgmnt, Coaches will always say what the masses want to hear. The actual body of work is what dictates the results. Case in point. Kesler said he loves it here. wants to play here and he wife and kids are Canadian. Did anyone of you watch the 2nd period interview during Rangers game? He was disinterested, looked like he would rather be anywhere else but there. Torts reactions for boneheaded plays seems to suggest that the players and tanking to get him fired. Read the reactions instead of listening to the words. Torts will get fired. Gillis will get his coach. AV was not his hire. He inherited AV from Nonuts era but did extend his contract.

That means AV was his coach. Unless Aquilini made that decision too.
