Don't you friggin start too

Ha! No, I don't actually think they should trade the Sedins. It would be pretty funny if they wanted to buy out one though!

Pronger is officially retiring. That means the cap comes off. This deal was signed b4 the current CBA. Bettman will have a huge issue if he tries to enforce current CBA on contract signed in the old CBA.
Kesler and Edler trade will not net us NHL ready top 6 center. I would be inclined to keep Kesler to see how he responds to the new direction and trade him if at TDL if things are not looking good. Edler, as much as we love him, his value cannot be any lower right now. He needs 1 season with an offensive coach and style to bring his numbers up to be trade attractive.

"Players who sign multi-year contracts when they are age 35 or older (calculated on June 30 of the season the contract begins) count toward the cap under all circumstances, regardless of where (or if) the player is playing. The only cap relief is $100,000 from the player's cap hit if he is assigned to the minors after the first year of the contract or in the event of a buyout."

Riddle me this; why would Pronger forego $4.9m a year for the next 3 and why would PHI want that cap hit for the next 3 years? Just curious, because it makes way more sense for everybody to have him on LTIR until his contract expires.

The minute they trade the Sedins, under the current circumstances, is the minute we become the Edmonton Oilers.

Cap advantage recapture charge is new to this CBA. Pronger was injured well before this new CBA. Not sure the recapture was in the past CBA but I highly doubt Betman will put up a fight if both Jacobs and Snider both decided to retire savard and pronger.
- Linden_4_Capt

I was thinking "you really can't be this dumb" but then saw you were from TO. Savard and Pronger are completely different, yes both are injured but Pronger signed a +35 contract, I can't see him forgoing the money he would make and Philly taking that cap hit.

Edit: Chest said it better.

Thanks. I've been trying to be polite all day, but his logic is very troll-like. Being from Toronto doesn't help his case much.

All I hear from WPG is b!tching about Kane, Byfuglien's laziness/inconsistency. Burmistrov is a wasted asset. Worth next to nothing unless a team can convince him to come back to the NHL.

Kane & Schenn are a wash if WPG is willing to give up on Evander.
Coburn brings consistency (albeit unspectacular) to their back end... Apparently Philly wanted Buff.
The swap of picks is a difference of what... 10 slots?

I may be completely wrong, but I'm assuming they'd consider it addition by subtraction. Lopsided trades happen all the time and these are the types of extenuating circumstances that make them possible.

They might be complaining about Kane and Buff, but they could get more for them than that.

That's up to them... I never start a negotiation with my best offer. I start with the biggest rip job I feel I can justify

In the majority of cases a NTC just means they get to pick where they go. Very few of those guys would just downright not accept a trade out if asked. The Sedins would never be asked, but I doubt any of the rest would say no. They'd just have short lists of acceptable destinations.
- KB3Point0

"Just" getting to pick and choose your desired destination makes all the difference when negotiating a trade. It's rumored Kesler supplied 6 teams he'd consider going to and 3 of them weren't interested in tabling an offer.

Gillis having to shoehorn a deal with 1 of 3 teams (or even 6) vs 1 of 29 teams is all the difference in the world when finding the best return for the team.

Unless Kesler broadens his list of destinations substantially it's more than likely we'll be getting a lesser return than Kesler's actual value. Same goes for Edler.

I'd love to see the Blue Jackets go on a long playoff run that results in Kesler suddenly wanting to join them...

What are you hoping for in return? I actually like the ANA & CHI offers if those are legit.

Unbelievable, someone ripping on the Canuck management, everyone seems to know more than the people getting paid to know.

THN is the biggest joke. Eklund is as credible as them. I loved their Oilers piece. Should have drafted based on need. Its why they suck now. When at the time he said draft the best player, not based on position, as thats how you end up at the bottom of the league.

They had feaster writing for them..... Seriously they are the biggest clown show. I'd listen to Bro Jake's take on the Canucks over THN
