I'm not sure if this is sarcasm, or a rip at me, or what.

Not a rip at you at all.

I'm just not going to get wrapped around the axle about Bob pitching a shutout on a night where the Flyers got outworked.

Those pairings work for me as well. A pair like Coburn-Grossmann could be huge (no pun intended) in the playoffs. Coburn seems to ramp up his physical play in the postseason and the refs seem to let a little more go which helps Grossmann. They could be a really nasty, hard to play against shutdown pair.

Timo-Schenn scares me a bit due to lack of mobility, but Timo makes up for that to some degree with positioning and smarts. Also by not having to be the shutdown pair, they won't see as many tough matchups.

Finally, Mac-Streit is a very nice combo of mobility and skill and more than acceptable as a 3rd pairing.

THose pairings have had success in the past. I don't know what more Berube needs to see from Streit-Grossmann to realize they don't belong together. Both of those guys need a mobile partner.

This is a crazy thought, but how about putting Lecavalier back on the 2nd line wing? Now, hear me out:

Before they put McGinn on that line (for some reason) and moved Vinny, Vinny himself wasn't producing, but Simmonds and Schenn were causing havoc all over the place and Simmonds was on a tear.

Ever since the move during the NYR game, Simmonds has looked very "blah" which is not good for him. I'm not saying it's a direct cause-and-effect, but something needs to be done with that 2nd line wing spot.

He, also, solved world peace, stopped all gun violence and convinced Putin to stop invading other countries. He's close to figuring out how the universe began, but hey, the man does need to sleep at some point.

Personally, I just don't think much of McGinn as a player. He's a warm body at the NHL level.

Ah, gotcha. I won't discount the shutout, as he still had to make stops. But there's nights where allowing 2 goals on 18 shots (like the LA game) is a lot harder than having a shutout making...well, however many saves he made last night.

I don't think McGinn is the problem, per se, but I think there is a definite chemistry problem with that line right now.

That's how I am. I like what he can offer (physical, will fight, has NHL tweener offensive skills), but he's suited for a 3rd/4th line role.

Simmonds had some decent chances last night. Maybe Downie is ready to come back. Downie back to the third line and Raffl moves up to the 2nd line.

I know. I think Vinny, Schenn and Simmonds are all capable of being top 6 players. Im just not sure if they fit well together.

Oh this is hilarious.

You mean kind of like how you, Winning, and Just5 or whatever don't have to blindly berate the GM and players of this team to be a "fan"?

If you think I look through shades, yours are 10x thicker and it's quite the pain in the ass

I am very offended I have not been included in this list.

As for "winning" pretty sure that's 2real.

I would not put Lecavalier back at LW. It's pretty clear he can't play at that position. Schenn should be moved to Wing, and put Lecavalier at Center on that line. Barring that. Lecavalier should remian where he is, at least he's at the right position.

When will the return Holmgren got for Bobrovsky (Stolarz and Leier) start paying dividends at the NHL level?
- PLindbergh31

I don't think anybody loves how that trade turned out short-term with Bob going on to do really well (man, did he look good last night), and with the impetus behind the deal (whether you blame Homer or Lavi or Snider or some combination thereof for Bryz).

With that said, it's hard to argue that Homer didn't do really well from an asset-management point of view in the trade... he took a guy they signed off the street and parlayed him into three pretty decent picks.

Not sure if Stolarz or Leier have NHL futures, but the potential is still there for this trade to turn out well for them in the long-run.

Exactly, none of the 3 are particularly good playmakers. I'd even be willing to try flipping Voracek and Simmonds. Earlier this year, Hartnell and Simmonds worked pretty well together while being centered by Schenn, so I'm pretty sure they could succeed while being centered by Giroux. And, putting Jake on the right side with Vinnie and Schenn gives the line more speed and creativity which wouldn't be a bad thing.
