Bruins have had the better period as it is, the quality of chances have been better for them.
I am starting to not like how they are using Couturier. The kid is going to have a really hard time developing an offensive game continuously going up against the best players of the other team.
Not a fan of that anymore. |

Not the time to start playing piss poor. Have to wonder if they are just physically spent from the stretch of games they are in the midst of. |

7 periods and 2 overtimes without scoring a goal. |

pathetic. have 3 flyers standing in front of emery and not one of them can find the puck after he makes 2 saves.
they've gone impotent. not getting anywhere near the net. shots all coming from the perimeter and the point. blocked. not getting to any rebounds.
sensationally boring.
unacceptable. |

Unless they can turn Vinny into Primeau, I'm not sure they have a choice but to keep Coots in that role. |

7 periods without a goal. Not a good time of the year for a scoring slump. Giroux needs to be the best player now more than ever.

They have been outskated the last few games for sure. Hard to get much going if you always have the opposing player riding your ass.
Chasing the play too much without the puck on their stick.
Lots of time, hopefully they get it going. |

If you are talking in the offensive zone what rebounds are there? Rask is as good as they come when it comes to everything in net and rebound control is part of that.
Defensively it was a horrible job of locating the or clearing the crease. |

If they cant have LeCavalier or Giroux take some of those minutes then we have problems.
I don't like the management of Couturier at this point. Playing him game after game against the other team's best in a shutdown role imo is hurting his development of an offensive game.
The kid is continuously in shutdown mode. Not a fan of that, and I do believe they are stunting him.
We all know they are going to target Giroux first and foremost. Need that secondary scoring. |

with rask there aren't many. he booted a juicy one right into the middle and his dman was there to pick up the loose change. that's the one sticking in my craw right now, and i can assure you he didn't want to put it there. when he makes a mistake you need to capitalize.
overall, it's just a very dull game and i don't see a lot of jump/urgency from the flyers. the bruins have no reason to play a high tempo agitating game...the flyers can't get lulled into complacency and need to manufacture some energy and create offense.

I didn't think they played badly that period. They are pressing some offensively, but I think they are very close to coming out of their scoring slump |

It's like people forget the Flyers do have a deep team offensively but they have hit a bad 5 periods. That being said, their two most dynamic players need to do something special over the next 2 periods.
Personally I haven't seen anything from Couturier offensively short of 1 playoff game against the Pens to think he is John Leclair just looking for his Lindros and Renberg .

They're playing like a team thats just gone through an extremely difficult stretch of games with no time off. I think they find a way to tie this game up and get at least one point. I then think they are going to lay a beating on Buffalo tomorrow.
I have no doubt whatsoever that they finish with 94+ points and end up 3rd in the Metro. |

I think if he continues to gain confidence AND they finally give them a third guy on that line that's a threat to score, the role won't hurt his development. Remember, other teams' top lines aren't necessarily great defensively and teams tend to save their best d-pairs to use against the G line, so it's more about that line improving possession-wise and not so much about them being stuck in a hopeless situation.

I want the kid to have a better chance at developing an offensive game. Not to always be forced game after game into a shutdown role.
Its ridiculous at this point and has been taken too far. |

He is 21. Why would you not put the best defensive center on the team in a role he can help the team with? He is already one of the best defensive centers in the league. He has been shutting top guys in the league down since he came into it. His offensive game will come around. But removing him from the best role he can fill just so he can score more goals seems silly. |
