I said FUCTIONAL strength & speed. Even if the human body can go several steps further, what kind of cognitive development/evolution is needed for the brain to keep up. - DrChristianTroy
Ok. I get what you said (as long as you mean functional and not fuctional) and I still do not agree at all. All that means is if they can use it or not. If they have it they can use it. Becoming stronger faster and even more skilled is learned.
None. The brain development and potential is there already. Actually cognitive mapping tests show it to be well beyond capable of most anything we do today. And those test are based solely on what we know today, so there is even a flaw in that cognitively speaking. |

Drafting high is nice, but it's a longer term solution. Lots can happen between the end of the season and draft day. |

Yeah. It's hard to gage where we'll actually end up.
At least Kes looked good last night and I'm glad Lack's happy... "Ehhh, Ehhh. It's huge. It keeps our season alive." |

Yeah but the could be missing out on a key piece by drafting lower. |

I would go with Lack and Markstrom next year. Rollie has the whole summer to work with the two and 1.5 mil for both goalies is a bargain. Just put a solid D in front of them. |

You can trade for a higher pick, that's allowed you know |

Wasted asset. If we lost we draft at that higher spot and could use a guy say like Edler for another top 6 hockey trade. |

Never a wasted asset, for shame! It's called asset management. Trading Kesler for a quality young center and a draft pick would do wonders for the future. (Anaheim?)
Players could give a flying (frank) about draft position, I wish you guys would get that thru your thick skulls

Players don't care about draft positions , but players come and go, it is the fans that stay around for years and years. We are the ones that care. How many of this core will be moved in the offseason?
It is a wasted asset. Instead of having two assets coming back we would be trading up a valuable asset to move up 5 or 6 spots. Having the number 6 spot you could draft a valuable piece and make a separate trade for Edler.in most cases the higher the pick the better the player.
Keslers trade is is a. Separate issue. If he gets a prospect and a pick then we get four players my way. Three players your way. |

Joey Moss? That guy's a beauty!
It's true. We should be cheering for strong play and bad bounces.

Quality is better than quantity. Fully understand you guys wanting a better draft position, I know it helps the future, that said, I can never ever bring myself to hoping they lose. I loved seeing them win last night!
Facts are the team needs a shakeup, trading a core memeber such as Kesler should be done regardless, so having assets come back in the way of a good young player and a draft pick is a win win in my books. They can pick up a good player in the top ten! |

BINGO. Solidify the D Core. |

Lefty, here is an example of what we are discussing , I will bring it back a year to the 2013 draft to paint the picture of our discussion.
This is assuming we finished 9 th last year are were looking to trade up to second or third.
Canucks get Bartov or Drouin and give up give up Edler and our 9th.
If Canucks finished 6 th we keep Horvat or Monahan drafted 6th.
Edler gets traded to Detroit for Nyquist Tartar and a first
Which one is a better deal? |

Agree about trading the core.
We both know my cuts would be deeper but we agree upon major shake up needed |

Losing is for losers, no thanks. Breed a culture of winners, do your homework and find the players that your organization needs most, make a trade sending an established player out when need be to upgrade your selection. Canucks should have a scout at every game everywhere every night. |

Last year trading Schneider because we had Lu is good asset management, although he should have done it the year before. That's what I'm talking about. Two picks in a good draft year and we got two good prospects.
Why are we giving up our 9th overall? Here's the way I see it, we finish this year in 8th, plus, we trade Kesler to say Anaheim for the 5th overall and Etem (hypothetical). Or we trade Kesler to Chicago for their first round pick (high 1st) Teravainen and a prospect? Two 1st's again!
We've got Horvat, Hank, Mathhias and Richardson down the middle as of right now. Love the possibilities!! |
