He looks solid to me, as well. But he's also not exactly what I'd call a difficult to replace piece of the puzzle, either. He's very similar to Hainsey or Stralman in most facets of the game.

Smart cap management means finding cheaper guys that can do what a guy demanding a premium can do. People want to shred Holmgren over cap management, then are willing to pay more for a guy with similar ability to a potentially cheaper player.

The problem here is that saying certain players are equals is subjective. Two players were named that in my opinion, aren't better then MacDonald. So just because a certain player who is labeled an equal and is cheaper, doesn't mean a team has had smart cap management. Because in the eyes of the team, the cheaper player isn't an equal.

I don;t see anyone laying all the blame on him. Somebody said he played badly yesterday. I'd say that's a fair assesment. If you're making $3.5mm to be a defensive defenseman, you need to be a good defensive player night in and out. He's not.

No such thing as any defenseman, especially a role playing defenseman such as Grossmann, not having any bad games. It happens. For the most part he has been nothing but solid all year. With the exception of the bad stretch in January.

About damn time, idk if i'd have him at center but for a while he should've been moved up. Every line he's in he makes it better.

The amount of people who just throw positioning/hockey sense out the window and just call it "guts" or "skating hard" is flat-out amazing to me. And frankly, as a former defenseman, it's pretty damn insulting.

Absolutely correct shot blocking is always a combo of sound positioning and guts. The drawback to a guy like Grossmann is a lack of speed and skill, not his positioning.

Just for some poops and giggles. Kane was benched last night by the Jets, and with the new lawsuit against him, wouldn't be surprised to see him move.

Kind of a punk, with questions of dedication/attention to defensive side of the puck but the talent is there.

I've read a lot of things today that are flat out amazing. Again a stay at home defensive role playing defenseman is being labeled a bad player with Corsi. And we're back to that again. Which is a clear misuse of Corsi that shows a clear lack of understanding of the stat and it's role in the game. Might as well judge every single Forward on the number of goals they score. So a role playing 4th line PK forward who doesn't score many goals, would be labeled a bad player. It's essentially the same thing.

This is a very important game. If we lose tonight in regulation, our playoff chances plummet 7.5% (That's pretty crazy for one game), if they win it goes up 2%

Ha well who knows maybe if the Flyers make the playoffs and yes I said maybe cause nothing is out of the question.....Maybe he can step it up, seemed to remember he was pretty decent last playoffs he was in.
