the rangers will buy out richards and then trade kreider, stepan, duclair, and a their first round pick in 2016 only because they already blew their 1st round in 2015 in the St. Louis trade. Go for it Glen!

So Ovechkin has 74 points. 36 of those points are on the power play, so yes....that means Ovechkin has been on the ice for 73 goals allowed even strength. That is a staggering number.

This doesn't make any sense at all...you can get a PLUS without getting a point.

The Capitals, as a team, are only a -14. You could argue Ovechkin plays a lot of ice, but in previous years his +/- in the last 5 years have been +2, -8, +24, +45, and +8. This year he is -35.

Why would you quote overall goal differential when the topic of discussion (+/-) is situation specific? FYI: The Caps as a team are a -28 in situations where the +/- stat is applicable.



For the record, I'm not defending AO, I agree that he has been an awful ES player this year, but the above are just blatantly wrong

+/- is not a stupid stat. It is only stupid if it used without base.

Say a player is an even +/- but gets regular defensive zone starts and high QoC. Than +/- says he is a good/great player and gets the job done right.

Say a player is an even +/- and he gets sheltered offensive zone starts against weak QoC. Said player is a liability on the ice, barely produces offense needed to offset defensive lapses.

Now if you are in the first category and have a high +/- (ie. Bergeron) you are an outstanding player.

If you are in the second category and have a low +/- (ie. Ovie) you suck.

+/- is a great stat if used correctly and all info is provided.

I don't like players that think they are above the game. Ov is smart nod physically dominant but takes too many long shifts and or too many shifts off all together. He def helps a power play though.

Habs will take him for Collberg and a 2nd
