No trades involving the Capitals should take place until McPhee is gone. Also gone should be Oates and the entire coaching staff (and I actually like Oates). I place a certain amount of blame on Ovechkin for this mess. He is the captain and the one guy that should be bringing a positive winning atmosphere to the guys around him. The culture in locker room needs to change and Ovechkin and Green moving to new teams would go a long way towards that goal, if the return is satisfactory.

But it never is. If you're on a worse team and are on ice for empty net goals you get a minus. If you are on a pp and let in SHG you get a minus. If you have below average SV% you are going to be more minus.


Example: Nail Yakupov. Everyone laughing it up at his +/-. Parkatti put out a stat that if you remove his empty net goals against and equalize his on ice SV% to league average he would be -3. Not nearly as bad as most would have you believe.
