+/- is an on ice stat not a team stat. +/- can get thrown around a lot in a lot of bad situations and can be misread easily by IDIOTS. Anyone who thinks it is a bogus stat is either not smart enough to figure it out or knows nothing about hockey.

If it weren't for the invention of composite sticks Ovi might not have made it out of the super league. The biggest problem is he is suppose to be the leader of that team. +/- is different for defensemen because they tend to go towards the way of the team. You have to take into account the rest of the defensemen on the team and compare his +/- relative to them to figure out if he was a detriment to his team or just a result of the bad team play or if he did actually have a bad year. Because people can do that.

Like I said. You need more information to use +/- as a relative stat but you sure as hell can't say it is bogus.

Only in Boston, the East coast version of Vancouver, would a fan tell fans of other teams that the team they root for isn't relevant.

I don't think OVI is as good as many people say. He is not a Crosby or a player you build your team around. He COULD BE one of the best, if not the best in the league, but as I watch him as the leader of his team FIGHTING FOR A PLAYOFF SPOT, he disappears except for one timers on the power play. Seen him twice recently against the Bruins.

My opinion is that he is not as good a people give him credit for, 23 or 25 PP goals, the only time he shows up and it's him on a circle top waiting for a one timer.

Maybe you are right, time will tell, but I wouldn't want him on my team, THE WAY PLAYS NOW.
